Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

Welcome to the last newsletter of the school year.

Class R – Sharing Worship, Thursday 2 nd July. Thank you to the children for sharing a great deal of their super learning which included some great singing of rhyming songs, especially ‘Row, Row Row your Boat’, examining a pilchard and showing us some of the bones, exploring objects which float and sink, showing and explaining their boat designs, Grace

Darling role play and how brave she was and so much more. The growth in their confidence and learning achievements was very impressive. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who supported the children so well.

Class 2 – Southsea Aquarium, Thursday 9 th July. The children really enjoyed their visit to the Southsea Sealife Aquarium.

They had a chance to look at various sea creatures in a realistic habitat, and to experience looking at the landmarks of

Southsea. The children had the experience of holding some of the animals in the rock pool and learn more about them. Our thanks go to Mr Knight, Mr Tumelty, Mrs Rouse, Mr Jones, Mrs Mendelsohn and all the staff who accompanied the class.

Class 3 – Music Concert, Wednesday 15 th July. Well done pupils! What an excellent 20 minutes of concentrated samba drumming and movement to the beats. Very impressive! Thank you to the parents/carers who came to watch their child perform. Our thanks also go to Mr Greg Walker from Hampshire Music Service for teaching this Listen2Me programme.

Class 5 – Year 6 Production Tuesday 14 th July. We congratulate all the class 5 children who performed their own rewritten version of the classic text ‘The Jungle Book’, by Rudyard Kipling. They worked well as a team to show their creative dance and to bring alive their characters with confidence and enjoyment. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch the performance.

Well done everyone on a great term of learning and achieving together! Another school year is nearly completed and we congratulate you all for persevering and challenging yourselves to show your best learning and even better than your best!

We thank all parents and carers for your continued support of our school. The staff and I would also like to thank you for your positive comments, kind words, cards and gifts, which are very much appreciated.

For those who are leaving us today, Year 6 pupils, staff and children in other classes, we wish you and your families all the very best in the future and thank you for your support and hard work. Please keep in touch!

Enjoy a well-deserved holiday everyone.

Onwards and Upwards!

The Great Waste Debate-Wednesday 8 th July

Winchester City Council invited All Saints Primary to take part in their year-long campaign called ‘The Great

Waste’. The initiative is designed to encourage residents across the Winchester District to reduce waste.

The children took a tour of the offices in the Winchester Guildhall with the Mayor of Winchester and Cllr Frank

Pearson. The children also took part in a debate in the conference chamber with other schools, councillors and officers from Winchester City Council. The idea was to emulate a council meeting, with the children standing up to state their views on the subject. Our thanks go to Felix, Jasmine, Ben, Tyler, Isobel, Isabel, Emma, Sky, Rayan,

Buildings Update!

So far so good! The building is changing quickly from week to week. We all had a real treat, when recently we were able to have a very quick look at the new building. Amazing! WOW! Lovely! Great! These were some of the words used by the pupils to describe their experience!

Thank you for bearing with us during this year of disruption, changes, moving rooms and lack of space. We are really looking forward to settling into the new building and we are so hoping that it is completed on time!
