Green Policy BREATHE EASY CLEANER AIR Our DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner voluntarily tracks VOC emissions monthly, going above and beyond DNR requirements. The monitoring and tracking of air emissions allows them to not only ensure EPA and DNR compliance, but to set a benchmark for lower emission goals each year. USING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES RENEWABLE ENERGY Renewable energy is here to stay, and we are excited to be part of it. Our DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner is a Champion Member of the NatureWise program through Wisconsin Public Service. WPS uses the money from the NatureWise program to maintain renewable energy resources, as well as to pursue new renewable energy opportunities. BACK TO THE BASICS — REDUCE/REUSE/RECYCLE DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner is committed to reducing waste up front, reusing materials when possible, and recycling what we can at our facility. In this effort: All scrap metal is collected for salvage Florescent lights are disposed of in a safe manner, applicable portions are recycled Computers and electronics are either safely recycled, or donated Skids are recycled Silver that is recovered from Plating Process is recycled Tens of thousands of pounds of plastics, cardboard, aluminum and paper are recycled each year. THE BIG “C” CARBON FOOTPRINT Transportation is a major contributor to Carbon in the atmosphere. Our DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner has greatly reduced the carbon footprint due to our operations by: Purchasing materials locally Recycling materials locally Utilizing a shipping company that follows the EPA SmartWay Program. The SmartWay Program educates shipping companies on best environmental practices, and tracks their processes to ensure proper maintenance of the program PROTECTING OUR WORLD WATER Silver that is leached from the plate and film process is collected in a silver recovery unit. The unit is checked and the waste stream beneath it is monitored regularly. Our DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner continues to be in compliance with our local regulators of wastewater discharge. DEFINITIONS VOC (Volatile organic compounds) Our DynaPaq, Inc. source plant partner primarily runs a UV process. UV inks and coatings have insignificant amounts of VOCs. A VOC is a chemical compound that has high enough vapor pressures under normal conditions to significantly vaporize and enter the atmosphere. Although ubiquitous in nature and modern industrial society, they may also be harmful or toxic. VOCs, or subsets of VOCs, are often regulated. DNR Department of Natural Resources. See http://dnr.wi.gov/ for more information. NatureWise A Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) program that offers renewable energy from wind and biomass. It is an investment that demonstrates commitment to clean, safe energy — and makes the most of the environment. Recycling Benefits Recycling the listed materials does more than just save on landfill space. By recycling plastics, paper and aluminum, the manufacturing from virgin materials was avoided, which in turn, conserves natural resources. Carbon Footprint The total set of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), or the equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.
