General Body Meeting Minutes
9/9/15
1. Guest Speakers
1. Chief of Police Venuti and Emergency Preparedness Director Adam Crowe: UCI bike race
Tips for Bike Week:
-Important information about available parking and transportation (including campus
connector, A/I lot, and M lot buses) were sent out in the 9/9/15 email from
“POLICEDEPT/GA/VCU”
-check out Richmond2015.vcu.edu for a more VCU/MCV student-focused site with all
the information you need for bike week!
-open parking decks are posted
-note that buses will still be running as usual (A and I lot will share 1 route) but
estimated travel times are posted on the website and can be up to 90 minutes round
trip!
-note that Friday, 9/25 may be the worst day in terms of commuting
-all VCU buildings will be limited to card access (swipe) only
2. Carrie Baines, Assistant Director of Rec Sports
-Gyms will still be open during bike week (hours posted on websitehttp://www.recsports.vcu.edu/facilities/special-hours)
-New registration process for group exercise classes:
-SAME DAY REGISTRATION only
-make sure to show up to classes early as instructor needs to sign you in
-group exercise class instructors needed (especially on MCV campus)!!
-interest meeting will be held on 9/15 at 5:15 pm in Cary Street Gym’s Seminar
Room (http://www.recsports.vcu.edu/programs/fitness--wellness/become-a
group-ex-instructor)
3. Dr. Reuban Rodriguez, Dean of Student Affairs: Honor System
-MCV SGA will vote on the revised honor system this semester
-revisions aim to make case review easier/faster
2. Funding Requests
a. VCU Women in Science (WIS): Wine & Cheese Mixer
-total request: $1300
- All MCV students/faculty welcome to attend as long as over 21
-vote: Approved
b. Student Free Clinic’s School of Medicine Annual Charity Golf Tournament
-total request: $2500
-April 16, 2016 from 8am – 3pm
-vote: Approved
c. Dept. of Pharmacotherapy and Outcome Science GSA’s Time with ASK Kids
-total request: $1500
-October 24, 2015 from 10am – 1pm
-location: ASK office on Willow Lawn; email cudjoeek@vcu.edu with questions
-vote: Approved
d. New voting system for funding requests!
-SGA reps make sure to have charged smartphone/laptop at future meetings
-overall preference for texting service (to be discussed at exec)
3. New Business
a. Budget Report
-will be leaving ~$30,000 for next year’s rollover
b. New Logo
-Deadline 10/16
-preference is for 2 colors maximum but please send in your ideas!!
-send in your logo ideas to zirklekw@vcu.edu
c. COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED
-if interested, email zirklekw@vcu.edu
-see attachment in email for open committee positions!
d. Philanthropy VP (Abbie Wisner)
- School supply drive until Sept. 28
- Blood drive (VA Blood Services) on Oct. 5
-Volunteers needed, email wisneral@vcu.edu
-Need people to join philanthropy committee! No serious time commitments/obligations
-Mini Medical Day: volunteers needed
- EHL mentoring program- give support to an undergrad!
Tuesday October 13th – deadline to submit an application (Google Form)
Tuesday October 20th – you will be provided with your match’s contact info
Tuesday October 27th – EHL Mentoring Program Social, Larrick 6-8 pm

-Etiquette Dinners
look out in VCU telegram for announcement next semester (2/3 at 5:30pm)
-Sustainability Committee
-the main event last year was a PT professor talking about how to stay healthy as a
health care professional- very popular event and there was a yogurt bar!
-looking to hold this event again

-10/1 at legends 6-8 pm for MCV student mixer with free food!
-Winter Ball will be held January 30th!
g. Block Party (Lauren Krotz)- ALL INTERESTED PLEASE EMAIL healthfairvcu@gmail.com
- Information session on Sept. 28, 5:30 PM in Larrick ballroom A
- need administrative officer(website, FB account, etc), advertising chair, volunteer coordinator
-Also need people for these committees:
i. Operations committee needs to reach out to organizations to come to the fair
ii. Children’s area- need to get entertainment for kids (soccer team, play area)
h. Treasurer (Morganne Perez)
-NEW Appropriations Committee, if interested email perezmv@vcu.edu
-need other people to look at funding requests before exec does; a 2nd pair of eyes-goal is to
increase transparency on funding
-meetings can be simply via email depending on # of members
