THE 19TH LONDON TURKISH FILM FESTIVAL FESTIVAL OPENS AT THE 02 MILLENIUM DOME ON MAY 22. Legendary Turkish actress Serra Yılmaz to receive The LTFF Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gala Opening Night The London Turkish Film Festival (LTFF), which runs from May 22 to June 1, is opening at one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, the 02 Millennium Dome. The venue, which hosts Robert Redford's annual Sundance London Film and Music Festival as well as a series of major music events throughout the year will be hosting the LTFF for the very first time. Legendary actress Serra Yılmaz will be present to receive the Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the opening night Gala on Thursday May 22, an evening which also includes the UK premiere of the Turkish box office success “Yozgat Blues”. From May 22 to June 1 The 19th London Turkish Film Festival will be presenting a cinematic feast of internationally acclaimed Turkish films seen at film festivals worldwide, from Los Angeles to Shanghai. Turkish success at this year's Berlin Film Festival will be particularly well represented. UK Premieres abound and as usual, it will be an entertaining, surprising, inspiring and informative series of programmes of features, shorts and documentaries that will be on offer to filmgoers across London at cinemas including the O2 Cineworld, the Rio Cinema and Hackney Picturehouse. GRAND OPENING WITH YOZGAT BLUES The Opening Night Gala will be held at the O2 Millennium Dome, in Greenwich which was built for the Millennium celebrations and is now home to the London Sundance Festival and major concerts and events throughout the year. Two of the Festival's coveted awards, the Golden Wings Digital Distribution Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during the evening. The winner of the Digital Distribution award is chosen by a panel of international professionals and guarantees UK distribution to the winner. The Gala closes with the premiere screening of Mahmut Fazıl Coş kun's award winning "YOZGAT BLUES" starring Ercan Kesal, Ayça Damgacı, Tansu Biçer and Nadir Sarıbacak. SERRA YILMAZ TO RECEIVE THE LTFF LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Photo by Mehmet Turgut Past winners of the Golden Wings Lifetime Achievement Award have honoured the life and work of such all-time greats as Türkan Ş oray, Ş ener Ş en, Hülya Koçyiğ it, and Kadir İnanır. The 2014 Award will be presented to actress Serra Yılmaz for her distinguished contribution to Turkish Cinema both in Turkey and Italy. A third accolade, The Golden Wings People’s Choice Award is voted for by audiences attending the Festival and will go to one of the outstanding feature films from the year's as eclectic as ever selection. Audiences will also have the opportunity to meet both established filmmakers and tomorrow's exciting new talents at Q&A sessions throughout the Festival.
