----------------------------The Friends of T.C. Steele State Historic Site are planning an exciting exhibit
highlighting the rich and varied talents of its membership. You are invited and
encouraged to become a part of this special event.
Objectives
The Friends of T.C. Steele Member Art Show seeks to promote art and artists both past and present by
providing Members an opportunity to share with the public how the works of T.C. Steele and the
scenes he painted continue to inspire artists today.

Programs page Click on the Friends Member Art Show Entry Form link and print out the pdf

Eligibility
Exhibitors must be current members in good standing of The Friends of T.C. Steele State Historic Site,
Inc., hereafter referred to as the Friends. An artist who is not a member but wishes to enter may
participate by joining the Friends at the time of registration.

Join the Friends now and your entry fee will be waived. Applies to new (not renewing) members only.
Entry Fees
Entry fees are due at the time of entry and are non-refundable. Checks should be made payable to The
Friends of T.C. Steele. Adult Members: $10, Youth Members: $5
Number of entries
Artists may submit up to two pieces of artwork for this exhibit, but if registration exceeds the exhibit
capacity, entries will then be limited to one per artist. Designate on entry form which is your first
selection in the event that only one can be entered. The maximum number of pieces that the exhibit can
accommodate is 55 (45 2D and 10 3D).
Sales & Commission
A 20% commission will be charged for any sales.
Submissions
All submissions must be original. The Member Art Show is open to both two and three dimensional
works of art in the following Art Categories:
Painting – oil, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic.
Drawing Media – pencil, pen & ink, charcoal, scratchboard, pastel, crayon, colored pencil.
Mixed Media – 2D artwork using two or more types of media, including assemblage, collage, acrylic or
watercolor painting on scratchboard drawings and other mixed media.
Photography – digital and film photography minimally altered through technology using standard
darkroom (like dodging and burning, etc) and traditional photographic techniques.
Sculpture – 3D forms in various media, including bas relief.
Non-objective Fine Art – in any medium, including abstract or experimental work.
Traditional Printmaking – lithography, relief, intaglio, mono-print, screen-printing, reduction block
printing, and other forms of very limited-edition (less than 10 prints), fine art printing – not
reproductions of original works.
Studio Fine Crafts – strictly original fine crafts created in a studio environment such as glass blowing,
stained glass, pottery, woodwork, jewelry, mosaic, weaving, fiber art, metal work, and other fine handcrafting techniques; finely crafted items, often but not always created for utilitarian purposes.

2015 guidelines
All exhibiting artists are expected to understand & follow these GUIDELINES:



















Entries must be received by October 20, 2015. See How to Enter above.
Artwork shall be displayed for a period of 30 days: Sunday, November 1st through Sunday,
November 29th, 2015.
Deliveries of artwork shall be accepted Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27th & October 28th,
2015 between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.
Artists must pick up artwork from the studio no later than two days after the end of the exhibit
unless the artist/lender has made prior arrangements with staff prior. Hours for pick-up are
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 from 9:00am-5:00pm and Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 from 9:00am-5:00pm.
Artists must complete TR Loan Forms that include contact information, insurance values along
with a detailed description of artwork. Including a printed image of the artwork is optional.
For each work, the artist is to provide the name of the work, artist’s name, medium and price (if
for sale) to be included on a display card or title label. Artists are encouraged to post a
statement about their work.
A picture hanging system will be provided to display the art. Maximum weight for any piece is 50
pounds. If any piece of artwork is extremely large, heavy, or particularly fragile, special
arrangements must be made with the hanging committee for its display.
ENTRIES ARE ENTERED AT OWNER'S OWN RISK, although every precaution will be taken in
handling.
Works of art on display may be offered for sale, with prices established by the artists. Sales will
be handled through the Friends of T.C. Steele Museum Shop. A 20% commission will be
charged, with monies going to the Friends.
Works that are not available for purchase must be clearly designated “NFS” (Not For Sale).
Works sold must remain on exhibit throughout the designated period.
The exhibit space will be open during regularly scheduled building tours and regular admission
fees will apply. (Remember, your Friends membership includes free admission!)
Permission to photograph and reproduce any work accepted in the exhibition for publicity
purposes is considered granted unless otherwise stated in writing.
The Exhibit Committee shall decide on the suitability of any art, the framing or support
structure, and any visual or written material that might accompany an exhibit.
The views expressed in the works exhibited at the T.C. Steele SHS are those of the artists and
are not necessarily those of the staff or the Friends and their membership.
The Friends will post exhibit information on its website, so you are encouraged to email a brief
biography and digital image (.jpg) of your work to cwhetzel@indianamuseum.org. Artists are
encouraged to publicize the exhibit and their participation in it.
Two dimensional works must not exceed 36 inches in any dimension (including frame) or weigh
more than 50lbs. Three dimensional works must not exceed 24 inches in any direction and may
be required to come with proper display materials (pedestals, mannequins, etc).
All two-dimensional work must be dry, wired and ready to hang. Entries must be hand-delivered
to the Historic Site. Work requiring special installation must be cleared with staff prior to entry.
The Exhibit Committee reserves the right to exclude work due to non-compliance with the
general eligibility requirements.
