The Gunpowder Plot

This is a look at the background of the "Powder Treason" and the involvement of
Catesby,
Percy and Guido Fawkes and the ten other conspirators who laid the Plot.
We examine closely the events of early November in 1605 and we follow the flight
and fate of the conspirators and hear of the trial and executions of those who were
captured.

Branch Dinner
You will have noted in our last Magazine that we are planning a Lee & Stort Branch Dinner. This has
now been confirmed as
Saturday March 8th, at The Red Lion, Stanstead Abbotts.
Terry Stembridge is organising this, so if we wish to come along please let Terry know at

Stoppage Notices
The new CRT Stoppage Notice website (mentioned in my last Bulletin) is now up and running, and I
am now receiving notices covering the Rivers Lee and Stort, so the glitches in the Waterscape site
seem to be resolved.
If you would like to receive notices from CRT you will need to create a My Trust account by going to
https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/my-trust/register?utm_campaign=noticeRegistration . You will then be
able to specify which waterways you wish to receive notices for.

Towpath Closure
Repair
The Environment Agency are carrying out repairs to their towpath bridges over weirs on the
River Stort between Tywford Lock, Pig Lane, Bishops Stortford and Southmill Lock,Bishops
Stortford, as a result the towpath will be closed between the access point at Twyford Lk Pig
Lane and Twyford Lock Bishops Stortford. Works are due to finish on Jan 20th and a
towpath diversion has been set up and is signed by the Environment Agency.
