A Christmas War Story By Asher Christmas eve 1914 In the cold rat strewn trenches the English soldiers waited. Then a sound arose from the German trenches. But it wasn’t the sound of guns and shells. The Germans were singing. All though another language the English understood. They began to sing too. As the early morning sun rose the barbed wire in no man’s land twinkled. The soldiers own tinsel. A lone soldier entered no man’s land. The Germans prepared but they didn’t shoot. Everyone followed the English soldier. They spent the day exchanging gifts that ended in a friendly game of soccer. The Germans vs English. Then a noise arose. All though the sounds of guns and shells where distant everyone packed up and left back down the trenches. But the still had to fight. Yet many soldiers never did. They fired the shots in the air.
