Distinguished Entrepreneurs, Respected members of the media, Ladies and gentlemen, Good morning I am honoured to be with you here today for our third‘SME Business Opportunities’workshop. I am so happy to see that we have gathered with us more than150local entrepreneurs and SMEs. Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our strategic partnerQDB,headed by Mr Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of QDB and his entire team for their dedicationand relentless efforts to empower the private sector in Qatar. Without their continuous support, we would not have been able to reach the large number of local SMEs present with us today and offer them these tangible opportunities. So thank you! I would also like to recognise the support we at Qatar Shell receivefrom our partner Qatar Petroleum in this area, especially from the QP members of the Pearl GTL Tender Committee. It is through their support and efforts that we are able to offer local SMEs opportunities such as those we will be sharing with you soon. At Qatar Shell, we have made it our mission to help achieve the objectives outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030, by supporting local SMEs, through committed partners like QDB.It is our shared belief that local Page 1 of 3 businesses are the cornerstone for achieving a sustainable economy in Qatar, and absolutely key to facilitating a thriving private sector. On that point, I am delighted to report that wehave made good progress in this area: o When we started this workshop in 2013, three Qatari companies were awarded contracts and became suppliers to our business; and I am proud to report that we are extremely satisfied with their quality and operational standards. o And in 2014,110 local SMEs and entrepreneurs participated in a similar workshop, 33 of themwere qualified to tender forthe seven specific business opportunities that were on offer. And five Qatari SMEs were awarded with the contracts last December. I hope that this provides our gathered SMEs today the confidence that you too can become one of our retained local suppliers before the end of the year, inshallah! Page 2 of 3 Ladies and gentlemen, Thelocal SMEs were shortlisted from many others because they demonstrated excellence and the drive to succeed. They revealed their commercial sharpness, adhered to our technical and HSSE standards, as well as to our global tendering process. These represent essential attributes that we seek in all of our partners, and they truly are of the utmost importance to us. We believe that QDB and Qatar Shell’s combined strengths and abilities will open new horizons for the private sector in Qatar;and we are committed to continue offering more business opportunities to even a wider number of local SMEs, as we trust in their ability to add value to our operations in Qatar. So, this is what brings us all here today…Later onour team of technical expertswill presentseven new business opportunitiesfor local SMEs to bid on, and join Qatar Shell’ssupply chain. I hope you will all benefit from today’s presentations, get motivated to participate in the tender, and,if successful, join hands with Qatar Shellto becomeasupply partner.
