FALL CHEER & STUNT
COACH-Suzi Robole
This fall the Cheer & Stunt team cheered at home varsity and sophomore football games, performed at
Homecoming and numerous varsity halftimes. This was the second year for their “Penny Run” and “Pink Out”
games in which they raised more than $1680 for the American Cancer Society. They also held their Fall Jr.
Cheer Camp where 83 girls enrolled to learn Hudson cheers. Using their new routines and cheers they
performed on the sideline and entertained at halftime on October 10th for the varsity football game and did a
great job!
FOOTBALL
COACH-Adam Kowles
The football team finished another successful season with a record of 8-3 overall
including a second place finish in the Big Rivers Conference. Highlighting the season
were two non-conference wins over Minnesota schools Minnetonka and Chanhassen
to begin the season. Beating River Falls for the 6th straight year kept the “Jug” in
Hudson and it is displayed in the main trophy case at the high school. For the 7th time
in eight years and for the 4th consecutive year the team qualified for the WIAA
playoffs. The team advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a first round
27-3 over Green Bay Preble. Conference honors went to the following players: 1st

by the following athletes: 1st Team: Parker Shefveland, Dan Klundt, Will Richards & Payton Spencer, 2nd Team:
Evan Johnson & Cole Osterhues, Honorable Mention: Chase Blackmun. Five of the seven honors went to
underclassman so they will return strong next season with valuable varsity experience.
GIRLS SWIM & DIVE
COACH-Kelly Hackbarth
This year was a record-breaking and memorable year for the team! There were multiple best times and scores
for most, if not all athletes. Devin Cicha, Lianna Wood, Maddie Nelson, and the a relay of Natalie Wood,
Emmie Reynolds, Lianna Wood, and Devin Cicha all broke school records
this year. The girls were undefeated in dual meets, won the Conference title
outright for the first time in school history then went on to became Sectional
champions for the first time as well! The team had 7 State meet qualifiers this
year and placed 20th overall. Devin Cicha, Lianna Wood, Emmie Reynolds,
Natalie Wood in swimming and Maddie Nelson in diving all placed in the top
16 at State. Claire VanValkenburg and Taylor Cicha both made their first
State meet appearance. Outside of being successful in the pool and on the
board, the girls took part in many fundraising events within our community.
GIRLS TENNIS
COACH-Dave Dahl
The Girls tennis finished the season with a 13-7 record, placing 3rd in the BRC and 6th in the 18 team
sectional. Sophomores Mafee Rinta and Taylor Brinkman, juniors Ashley Squires and Kali Denis, and seniors
Kate Johnson and Lauren Petersen all advanced to Sectionals. Kate and Lauren earned their way to the State
Tournament in Madison where they won their first match and finished as one of the top 32 doubles teams in
the state. The team had 13 letter winners for the season. Congratulations to the following girls who earned
All-Conference honors: 1st Team – Kate Johnson & Lauren Petersen, 2nd Team – Ashley Squires & Becca
Tangen. Kate Johnson and Lauren Petersen also qualified for the State Tournament.
VOLLEYBALL
COACH-Dennis Saathoff
The 2014 varsity volleyball team had an overall record of 21-15, 2-4 in the conference for a fifth place finish.
They ended the season in regional play the same way they started the season, with a two point loss to
Marshfield. Their season had many very close matches. In almost every match they were competitive each
time playing hard to the end of the match. Several times they had come from behind victories so the outcome
was never a foregone conclusion until the final whistle sounded. Four athletes earned Conference honors: 1st
Team: Kaylyn Jenkins and Honorable Mention: Kathryn Draper, Ashley Hall and Chloe Thorpe. Coach Dennis
Satthoff summed it up when he said, “This is a team that can be proud of their efforts on the court and be
proud of how well they came together as a team and conducted themselves as representatives of the Hudson
school community.”
CROSS COUNTRY
COACH-Don Krupa
The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the BTC Conference. Conference
honors were earned by the following runners: 1st Team: Max Ball, George Halunen, Rachel Anderson,
Miranda Miller, HM: Connor Johnson, Lauren Ichel, State Qualifiers: George Halunen and Rachel Anderson.
Rachel Anderson and George Halunen represented Hudson at the State Meet.
FALL RAIDAIRES
COACH-Heidi Shimon
We are lucky this year to welcome two coaches who are HHS and Raidaire alumni. Welcome Heidi Shimon as
the new varsity coach and Kristin Van den Broeke as the JV coach who is coaching for her second season.
Both coaches are elementary teachers in the District. They performed at football games and are looking
forward to competing this winter, as well as performing at basketball games.
OTHER NEWS!

HUGE thank you goes out to the Hudson Benchwarmers who raised over $30,000 in their adopt-ahelmet initiative: “Helmet Blitz 2014” to purchase helmets with newer technology for all high school
players at all levels. They found local business and individual sponsors to support the program. In
addition, the Helmet Blitz 2014 had a “Play-it-Forward” component in which every HHS football player
made a commitment to “play-it-forward”. The HHS football players committed to invest their time,
talents & mentorship in the Hudson youth football programs and with the Hudson Boosters
organization.
