Acquisitions Services says a “virtual” farewell to members of the Invoice Section. Virtual, because while they now fall under Library Finance and Administration, they are not moving to Firestone. Sue Shu,

Leyla Spencer, Sandy Arrington and Eija Woods remain in the thick of things here at 693 Alexander and will continue to process the Voyager invoices for our purchasing operation. Ruth McGuire has moved to

Tom Martine’s Monograph Acquisitions Unit. Carol Fagundus is working with Dina Conte on Voyager invoice workflow. Any questions regarding payment issues that were formerly sent to Art Miller should be sent to the Invoice Section email lodi@princeton.edu

or to Dina.

LD4P Derrida project

As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, CaMS is involved with 5 other institution in the Linked Data for

Production (LD4P) project. Stanford is submitting a Mellon grant for a project coordinator and technologist on behalf of the group. The proposal is in and we will hear in March whether it has been accepted.

For our individual project, we plan to create BIBFRAME records for a subset of our newly-acquired

Derrida collection focusing on material which includes dedications. In addition to being able to test the

BIBFRAME vocabulary and tools on real-life objects, we will be looking into extensions which will allow us to encode data about the dedications in a way that allows analysis not available with traditional cataloging.

This week at ALA, Jennifer Baxmeyer will be giving a short presentation on our Derrida project as part of the LC BIBFRAME Update session.

The book moves in Firestone have just started up again and they will be continuing for the next several months as we move into the new book stack area on B floor and vacating areas that are next slated for renovation. We estimate that in this first phase ca. 450,000 volumes will be moved.
