Famous Deaf Person Research & Presentation
For the next couple of weeks, you will be responsible to do research about a famous Deaf person, write a 12 page typed paper, and make a visual presentation to share with the class. You can choose to create a
colorful poster or a PowerPoint presentation as your visual aid. As a class, we will be spending 2 days in
the library to collect information for your research paper and presentation. You will need to also use time
outside of class to complete your research and visual presentation. If your are absent while we are at the
library, you we be expected to go to the library on your own time to get your research done.
●
You are to turn in a list of 5 Famous Deaf People you would like to do your presentation on by
Monday, November 3, 2014. From this list of 5, Mrs. Luther will choose 1 famous Deaf person you
will do your research and presentation about so there are not multiple presentations on the same
Deaf person in class.
●
You will also need to sign up on Monday, November 3, 2014 for the date you want to do your
presentation on. If you do not sign up or are absent on that date, a date will be assigned for you.
Make sure to write down the presentation date you are signed up for.
●
Our class will be collecting information for this project at the Library on Tuesday, November 4, 2014
& Thursday, November 6, 2014. Use this time wisely and be on your very best behavior.
●
We will review vocabulary words for presentations on Thursday, November 13, 2014. It is
recommended that you also take advantage of Tutor Time if you need additional help remembering
signs and/or look up signs related to your presentation on http://www.signingsavvy.com/
●
Presentations & research papers will be due on the date you present: November 17, November 18,
November 20, or November 24.
●
We will create a study guide on November 25, 2014 about what we have learned from each other’s
Famous Deaf People presentations..
●
“Famous Deaf People” test will be on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. This will be a multiple choice,
fill-in-the blank, matching, true/false, and short answer test.
●
If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mrs. Luther immediately. Your research paper
will be worth a total of 100 pts. & your presentation will be worth an additional 100 pts. Make this a
fun project for yourself. The more you put into your presentation and visual aid, the better you will
do. Choose someone for your topic that is involved in something that interests you.
