Assessment Task | Year 7 | History Depth Study 1 | ICT/Oral Presentation: History and Archaeology Date issued: Due Date: Student name: Your task is to design, produce and present a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on your nominated Virtual Site Study. You will deliver your presentation in class as a speech with the slide show. Focus Question: What does your site tell us about the nature of the society that built, or used it and why should it be preserved? In order to undertake this task you will need to: Conduct thorough research of your site. Locate and select a range of sources such as; images, maps, reviews and discussions of the site. Assess the significance to the Indigenous peoples or custodians of the site and the rest of the country in which the site is located. Investigate how the site is represented through the media, especially the internet. Produce an explanation why it must be preserved. Agreed conditions: You will be allowed 4 minutes to present your topic and marks will be deducted for speeches that vary by more than 20 seconds from the allocated time. You will be given one period in the computer lab, or Library for those with laptops, to begin the task, in the lesson following the one in which you are issued with the task, and then it must be completed in your own time. You will have a total of two weeks to complete the task. You will be required to hand it in to your teacher on the due date on a USB. The presentations will begin on the due date and continue in class until all are completed. You will be allocated one topic from this list: 1. Uluru 6. Knossos 2. Machu Picchu 7. Tikal 3. Pompeii 8. Petra 4. Akrotiri 9. Easter Island 5. Stonehenge 10. The Colosseum You will be assessed on how well you: Demonstrate their ability to respond in an appropriate ICT/Oral form in the style of an informative presentation. Demonstrate the ability to research and analyse their findings using ICT and other sources. Demonstrate the ability to present their findings using written and other forms to communicate effectively about the past.
