Genetics Project: Design Your Offspring Create your Imaginary Offspring. Bring in a picture or drawing of yourself and of your sweetheart, favorite celebrity, or dream girl or guy. Your offspring must have at least 5 genetic traits from the following list: 2 Single Allele Traits 1 Codominant Trait 1 Multiple Allele Trait 1 Sex Linked Trait 1. Attach your pictures to your poster. Next to each picture, describe the 5 traits on the list and give each a genotype. (see sample – but you aren’t limited to what’s in the sample – use your imagination) 2. Sketch two different possible children. Show and describe the phenotypes and genotypes for each child. 3. Show a dihybrid cross using an example of two single allele traits (Ex: RrHh x RrHh). Show the Punnet square and the ratios produced. Include the genotype and phenotype in the Punnet Square. 4. Show a monohybrid cross using your Codominant trait. (Ex. Mm x mm). Show the Punnet square and the ratios produced. Include the genotype and phenotype in the Punnet Square. Readiness Standard – B6.F – Predict possible outcomes of various genetic combinations such as monohybrid crosses, dihybrid crosses, and nonMendelian inheritance. Adapted from Biologycorner.com
