Subject: Excused Student-Athlete Absences
To participate in intercollegiate athletic competition, it will be necessary for student-athletes at
Purdue University Calumet to miss class on the dates listed below for regular season
competition. You will receive an updated excuse letter for postseason travel and competition.
Student-athletes are fully aware that it is their responsibility to contact you prior to home
games or departures about any exams or assignments that may be missed. Student-athletes are
only permitted to miss classes that occur during the excused times listed below. Everyone on
the roster may not travel to each away contest. It is our expectation that students will attend
class if they are not appointed to travel for a competition.
Please sign the attached verification form confirming you have received a copy of the excused
absence letter. In addition, we will contact you via progress reports forms throughout the
semester to request information on how the student-athlete is performing academically in your
class. To verify an absence or discuss the student-athlete’s progress in class, feel free to contact
