Details
Job Purpose / General Characteristics
Support the Chief Technical Officer and Chief Information Security Manager to define the strategic
technical direction for Infrastructure and Security, ensuring alignment with the enterprise strategy.
Typically, role holder will be recognised as a senior technical expert overseeing all the technical
design aspects for infrastructure and security while managing a small-medium team of ICT
professionals and be accountable for the architecture and design of the security and infrastructure
estate within the department.
Main Responsibilities















Drive forward the definition of technical strategy for Infrastructure and Security to meet the
needs of the individual services and architectural platforms.
Provide Line Management to Infrastructure and Security Architects.
Provide assurance that the technical estate is on a secure, scalable, robust and accreditable
stack.
Responsible for Infrastructure and Security technical design and delivery assurance.
Support investigation and identification of new technologies and tools
Responsible for definition and refinement of platform Transition and Target states
Responsible for ensuring current state analysis of platform performed, identification and
understand areas of risk, improvement and opportunities to meet technical strategy
Actively engage with Platform Chief Designers to ensure alignment of platform and
infrastructure & security strategy and design
Support the Service Architects and Solution Architects in defining technical solutions to
ensure they align with infrastructure and security standards and strategy.
Provide support on performing impact assessment for proposed business and technical
changes
Ownership of the Infrastructure and Security roadmaps
Responsible for ensuring the current, transition and target technical architecture for
Infrastructure and Security are documented and maintained within the Enterprise Architecture
Champion Best Practices and innovation.
Key participant and facilitator of Governance forums
Build and maintain relationships with senior individuals internally, external partners,
stakeholders, suppliers and other relevant bodies.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience









Relevant academic and professional qualifications or equivalent experience/capability
Comprehensive and recent experience designing and implementing complex IT infrastructure
Substantial relevant experience gained over many years across a range of infrastructure and
security areas
Substantial relevant experience with Enterprise Architecture using TOGAF principles
Excellent leadership and management skills
Proven ability to lead technology teams to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Demonstrable and practical experience of change to infrastructure and systems, delivering
cost savings, security and service improvements for customers.
Good understanding of the political environment, relevant regulations and legislative issues
In-depth understanding of internal and external customers/partners/stakeholders and their



requirements
Extensive experience across all phases of the IT lifecycle including agile and waterfall project
delivery methodologies.
Significant experience of new technology acquisition and development
Good understanding of developing and managing budgets and business forecasting
