Research Fellowship Application I. Mission and Purpose The mission of the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina (LCI) is to decrease deaths and provide support to those affected by lung cancer through research, awareness, education and access programs across North Carolina. Research Program Purpose: To further the development of local lung cancer care and research programs across the state of N.C. Also, by funding research activities of fellows and young investigators we will help to jump start their careers and encourage their continuing involvement in the field of lung cancer. II. General Information The Lung Cancer Initiative fellowship is provided for students who wish to pursue a career in lung cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and/or care. LCI fellowships are granted for one year. The stipend is $25,000 per year. Any questions regarding the submission process should be emailed to Jenni Danai at jdanai@lungcancerinitiativenc.org. Please include a current CV along with a brief memo of support from your project mentor with your application. III. Eligibility Criteria The applicant must be: 1. A researcher affiliated with one of these four medical institutions: Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Wake Forest University or East Carolina University. 2. Conducting graduate level research or have completed their fellowship no more than three years ago. 3. Committed to pursuing a career in lung cancer. IV. Timeline Applications Due March 27, 2015 Notification of Decision April 30, 2015 Fellowship grant awarded July 1, 2015 V. Post-Award Requirements Applicants will be required to submit brief progress reports and present at a Lung Cancer Initiative meeting within one year of project completion.
