Initial 12-month fixed-term contract
Purpose of post:
1) To provide support to young people who are being, or at risk of being, sexually exploited as they
transition to adulthood.
2) To support young people aged less than 18 years who have been identified as being, or at
significant risk of being, sexually exploited.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Transitions work
 Make face-to-face contact with young people referred to the project, and work to engage them with
the service.
 Undertake support needs analyses with young people, and develop individual plans to address their
future aims and objectives.
 Work with young people to support them to meet their goals, e.g. support them to access:
- positive activities within their communities/localities
- education, training and employment opportunities
- additional support services, e.g. adult social care, housing, therapy
Case work
 Take referrals from other organisations and individuals (i.e. Children’s Social Care, Education, Health,
parents).
 Make initial face-to-face contact with young people referred to the project, and work to engage them
with the service.
 Undertake risk assessment and support needs analyses with young people accessing the service, and
develop individual service plans to address their needs.
 Deliver Safe and Sound Derby’s CSE Intervention programme with young people to required timescale
and standards.

 Respond appropriately to any child protection/Adult at Risk concerns as and when they arise, following
Safe & Sound’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
 Develop supportive and empowering relationships with young people to build their self-esteem,
confidence, knowledge and resilience to enable them to move forward positively in their lives.
 Deliver positive activities and group work sessions for young people accessing support.

Effectively manage a caseload of young people, including maintaining accurate records of work carried
out with young people using our computerized contact management system.
Maintain the trust and confidence of young people and link them into services and support appropriate
to their needs (i.e. sexual health services, positive activities, counselling).
Work in a multi-agency setting, and to maintain links with other organisations that support young
people (i.e. Children’s Social Care, Youth Offending Service, and Health). This will include attending
relevant meetings.
Evaluate service users progress using the recovery star and via ongoing risk assessment processes
Ensure that young people are consulted within the delivery of the service.
Ensure work is effectively recorded and monitored, and to provide information and produce written
reports as required.
Training/education activities
1. Support the delivery of awareness raising work with children and young people around grooming and
child sexual exploitation (i.e. in schools, pupil referral units, youth clubs etc.) to help them make safe
choices.
2. Provide specialist advice to other workers and agencies, including participation in delivery of training
sessions.
General duties and responsibilities:
 Contribute effectively as a member of the staff team towards the development of Safe & Sound Derby’s
work.
 Attend any relevant training identified as required to support you in your role.
 Attend regular supervision sessions, including clinical supervision.
 Participate in team meetings , case review and other essential meetings.
 Work within the policies, procedures and practice guidelines of Safe & Sound Derby.
 Contribute to the development of service policies, protocols, guidelines and strategies within area of
practice as necessary.
 Carry out other duties, which may be assigned from time to time by the Management Team.
 Demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours, as this post will involve unsociable hours, including
evening and weekend work.
 Provide specialist advice to other workers and agencies, including participation in delivery of training
sessions
