How did American culture change during the 1920s? Americans developed a national culture and placed more emphasis on activities involving arts and leisure, such as movies and sporting events. 2. Where did jazz originate, and what musical styles influenced it? It originated in New Orleans. It was influenced by spirituals, European harmonies, and West African rhythms. 3. What were the major accomplishments of the Harlem Renaissance? Artists produced plays, poems, and novels about African-American life. 4. How was the Lost Generation similar and different from the Harlem Renaissance? Similar: Both groups expressed dissatisfaction with problems they saw in American society.
