QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S HOUSE NEWS Spring term 2013 A STORY FROM THE HOUSE ... Welcome back and a very Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas wherever you were. HAVE YOUR SAY … If you have any feedback for us regarding what you think is going well, or what you would like to see changed, please don’t hesitate to make use of the Suggestion Box in the reception area. Also, I am always happy to talk if there’s anything you would like to share with me personally. If I am not in the Office at the time you call, please let reception know that you called and I will find you. You are also welcome to call into the House Committee Meeting in the Drawing Room at 10.30am on Thursday, 14 February 2013 where the Chair of the Committee and I will be available for half an hour before the main meeting starts. And finally, there is a feedback book in the Dining Room where you can record your comments regarding the House catering. WHAT’S NEW AT QAH ...... The new QAH web site is up and running for the New Year and can be viewed at www.queenalex.com Thank you to everyone who willingly participated in the new design. If anyone has any feedback on the new site, I would be very happy to hear from you. Ruby (fourth floor au pair) left the House at Christmas to begin her maternity leave. We wish her all the best, and welcome Rossella (new au pair for the third floor) to the QAH team. I know you will all make her feel welcome. We are working hard all the time to make improvements to the House through re-decorating and other initiatives, and we continue to be immensely proud of QAH and the wonderful people who live here. I moved to London two years ago to study at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). As a full time student moving away from home for the first time I wanted to stay in a place where I would feel safe and comfortable. QAH is a wonderful place to stay as there is always somebody here to help if needed and the staff are lovely so everybody is well looked after. I have the biggest sized room, which is great as I have plenty of space to make it my own home. All meals are catered for at QAH, which is good as after a long day at the RAD I don’t have to worry about making my own food. We get breakfast every morning and supper during the weekdays and lunches on the weekends and if you don’t get back in time for food you never go hungry as a supper bag can be made for you. We get three course meals and there’s always a wide variety of food to choose from, each floor also has its own kitchen where you can cook your own food. There are so many parks and museums around the corner from QAH and being in such a central location means you can get anywhere so easily. As QAH is a historical building, it often gets used for filming. This is really exciting as last year I was a body double for a film that was being recorded in part of the building! The best thing about staying at QAH is that you can make many new friends. I have now been living at QAH for two years and have made some lovely friends from many different countries and schools who I hope to keep in touch with in the future! ‘HI’ FROM ALEX IN THE QAH GARDEN! I have been a bit secretive lately; in fact no-one saw me at all for nearly two months. Just when everyone was becoming a little worried about where I had gone, I popped my head out of my burrow to say a cherry ‘hello’! This term is generally quite busy for me with Easter not too far away. In the meantime, take care and good luck with your studies. I will be keeping an eye on everyone from my cosy little home in the corner garden. Cheerio, luv Alex Bunny Rabbit Take care … regards, Anet and the QAH Team
