Monthly Teleconference
1. Welcome and Introductions by Nancy Klembus (vice-chair): We have new leadership for the
upcoming year. Welcome to Janet Craycroft, the new Chair of the Corporate Practice Committee! Our
heart-felt thanks to Valerie Calloway for her excellent leadership of this committee. Valerie’s guidance
and resourcefulness were greatly appreciated and will be missed! Manny Schecter is the Corporate
Practice Committee’s liaison to the Board of Directors. Meghan Donahoe is the AIPLA Staff Liaison to the
Corporate Practice Committee. Angie Sebor is the leader of the team who organizes these great brown
bag discussions.
2. 2015 Annual Meeting Corporate Practice Committee Breakfast update (Nancy Klembus): The
Corporate Practice Committee Breakfast at the Annual Meeting was sponsored by Scully, Scott, Murphy
& Presser and was held on Thursday morning, October 22, 2015 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in
Washington, D.C. We had a great panel of general counsels from Kimberly-Clark, Motorola Solutions,
and Bristol Meyers Squibb, who discussed key characteristics/skills needed for In-house Intellectual
Property Attorneys to succeed in today's and future business environments.
3. Corporate Practice Committee Meetings at 2016 Stated Meetings
MWI – LaQuinta, CA January 28-30th, CPC Breakfast meeting will be held the 28th - Thursday
morning. Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garret & Dunner, LLP is our sponsoring law firm, and we will
have a panel on e-discovery. We are planning to webcast this panel – thank you, Finnegan!
Spring – Minneapolis May 18-21, CPC breakfast meeting will be held 19th – Thursday morning.
Fitch Even is our sponsoring law firm. If you have suggestions for the topic, please let us know.
- We are investigating a joint meeting with the Trade Secret Committee. They have
proposed a very interesting panel including corporate speakers. If there is any interest in assisting with
this, please let Janet or Nancy know.
Annual – D.C., October 26-29, CPC breakfast meeting will be held 27th – Thursday morning. DLA
Piper is our sponsoring law firm. If you have suggestions for the topic, please let us know.
4. Future brown bag presentations (Angie Sebor): Margaret Polson of Polson Intellectual Property Law
P.C. will discuss Industrial Design Patents. Suzannah Sundby from Canady + Lortz will be speaking on
subject matter eligibility in our next meeting on December 15th at noon Eastern time. If you have any
