Old Business:
Legislative Issues Preview and Meet the District 8 Legislators Wed Jan 8 Commission Room
Senator Chuck E. Jones newly appointed and 2nd year 1st Term Scott Parsley and Leslie
Heinemann were invited by Rosie and accepted. Media invitation by Jamison 5 – 6 PM
Advertisement KJAM and MDL and coordination of location by Jamison
24 attended public and chamber members plus Mayor Lindsay. Emceed by Knuths,
members Utecht, Fawbush and Jamison attended. Promotion coverage by Jamison
Facebook, Chamber Update and MDL and KJAM stories
This was reviewed as a good new event and one to consider going once again.
2014 MDHL –Tuesday, January 28 2014 on the SD Chamber Legislative Social Calendar
Cost = $60 for full day, $30 meals only, MHS = $20/ $250 sponsorship = 1 and $500 = 2
to attend
Prairie Coach will go unless Interstate is closed in case of inclement weather
Chamber is getting cell phone numbers when possible for registrants.
Jamison sent letter of invitation to legislators for luncheon and reception and all
accepted 1 10 14
GMACC sent invitation to Legislative Research Council for all legislators and
cabinet members on 1 10 14
Reservations confirmed with LRC Cindy for Conference/Committee Room 414
along with Rep. Parsley to ensure we retain it. 1 – 3 PM
Sponsorship status as of 1 13 14 $5400 committed compared to $7000 – follow up
needed
Jon, Bob and Rosie are making calls by Friday to invite 2013 sponsors to again do
so in 2013 not yet providing information.
Registrations to Date – 8 preregistrations a few meals only
18 coming from MHS including 3 chaperons @ $20 each
25 Leadership Madison Participants and 1 or 2Committee members
Calls are needed to get more to attend
Jane will contact County Commissioners - Chris is following up with
several from 2013 who attended and encouraging sponsorship as well.
Chamber will send out a list of attendees to date from 2014 and the
2013 final list for reference to committee to consider contacts ASAP
Jon & Bob will be visiting with potential sponsors about attendees too.
Mayor Lindsay is going on the bus and will be seated at the Luncheon Head
Table
Board of Directors GMACC – Rosie will remind BoD at Jan 20 Meeting - 2 now

Capitol Building Tours - Bureau of Administration Karen Allan set up
Rotunda from 10:45 to 11:30.
Marty Jackley Attorney General - Bob update – all prepared
Bob will introduce the Attorney General at the Mickelson CJ Center
Governor picture with all and Bob or Jon will introduce and moderate Q and A
Luncheon – Ramkota Noon to 1 PM Depart from Capitol by 11:40
Menu – Croissant club sandwich, cream soup, tea/coffee/water and brownie

Entertainment Erica is working with Nate Edwards and students

She will contact Rosie by Jan 17 on # of tables needed for the Reception
Madison Talking Points – Jane update
Jane prepared this for the event. Appreciation was shared by the committee for
her efforts which is helpful to all. She will provide a final version to Rosie.
Chamber will have it on the bus and pass out to all attending plus for school
attendees once there for information during the reception.
Gift coordination with DSU – Madison Note Pads will be prepared by Donna
Fawbush next week. Erica will bring the gifts to Bus and or help with
distribution in the Legislative Chambers
Bus Entertainment and Games – Jon and Jane others welcome as well
Rosie will order food for the trip along the way – do not get nuts/peanuts due to
potential allergies
Lanyards and Name Tags – we will have them prepared by Friday Jan 24 in case
of illness. The schedule of the day is on the back of the name for each.

Member Recruitment
Status of member recruitment of new members – Chris contacted Amy and she
requested Rosie to follow up – Chris forwarded that request during the meeting.
Erica Clements – DSU decided to join the committee following her attendance today.

District Legislative Cracker Barrel during February Set for 1:00 to 2:30 PM
Commission Meeting of City Hall reserved
3 Legislators Confirmed
Food to be ordered for event – water and cookies
EMCEE – to be determined from the GA Committee
Rosie has MDL advertisement finalized and locals completed
KJAM Ad will be run week of the event
Local Election set for April 8 for City Commission and School Board – Tabled upon next meeting
Closing date for candidates to submit petitions to be on the ballot is Feb 28.
