2015 MDHL – January 27, 2015 on the SD Chamber Legislative Social Calendar and Madison Calendar of Events
1. Legislature starts one week later again in 2015 on Jan 13 and the Tourism Conference is also one week later

Review of 2014 & 15 MDHL Activity and Financials
$10,010 Income - sponsorship $7,160, Event Registration $2,460, Reception/lunch only $390
$ 9,037 Expense – Ads $835, Luncheon $1,176, Reception $5,654, Trip Food $230, Bus $1,128, Misc 13
Letters sent to twenty seven 2014 Sponsors Nov. 28. Eight have responded to date for $3,700.
Committee members to contact 2014 not yet committed sponsors for 2015 on plans requesting
their donation in support of this important event in 2015.
Start after Christmas complete before December 31.
Report to Rosie on results for invoicing committed. See Attached Spreadsheet
a. Bus – Prairie Coach reserved for Tuesday, Jan 27 - 6 AM to 11 PM is $1,194.00 (up $66) from 2014
inc. tax.
b. Room no cost for LRC 414 reserved 1 – 2 PM 1/27/15
c. Ramkota Catering January 27 Luncheon 100+ and Reception 220+ Gallery B & C
Ramkota sent Rosie Beverage, Lunch, Appetizer menu on 12 17 also copy of 2014 reservation
She will proceed and handle the food and reception planning

Tours – led by Jon, Bob and Bob will request his Mom to assist as well from 10:45 – 11:30
Governor Daugaard Requested Visit – need to wait for commitment until 30 days out
Other – 3:00 – 4:30
Justice Wilbur Request made on 12 18 14 by Rosie to 773 3511 for call back from Lori Wilbur
SD Museum Cultural Center made on 12 18 14 Jeff Mammenga Program Asst. to return call
Committee discussed one of the other not both due to time and travel.
a. Provide a Civics 101 for Madison Central Students on way to enhance their experience during
session activity
a. Bob Sahr will provide this on the bus with handouts as needed to be the best timing
b. Madison Facts Sheet Plan – committee to review and send edits to Jane and Rosie by Friday, Jan 9
a. Jane provided her draft – The committee thought it was good and very much appreciated
the efforts
b. Erica will provide DSU updates to Jane
c. Legislators Gifts – Post It Notes to Legislators and delivery to each Chambers upon arrival
Invitation on Post It in good penmanship to be done by Erica and Jada
DSU will be providing a DSU pen/stylists with highlighter all in one.

Invite DSU and other sponsors to have information booth

6. Trip information – Talking Points about Madison
Bus entertainment and games – SD knowledge listing of legislators fun to get networking on trip
Focus on SD 125th - Jane had planned to do so again
7. SD Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Legislative Update Dec 1
8. David Owen – President of the SD Chamber presentation on Legislative Preview held Monday, December 15
at Madison Rotary. Weather an issue however the PPT was sent and projected while David presented via
conference call to Rosie.
9. Legislative Issues Preview and Meet the District 8 Legislators
2015 on Jan 7 in City Commission Room from 5 – 6 PM
Legislators contacted by Rosie and agreed to attend/participate
Moderator – Jada will moderate this session
Room set up and refreshments by Rosie

Jada Emry is engaged in November to Humberto Baltazar and will be married on Dec 31, 2014
