The “Lab of Application on Smart Material” is organized with a research group in the
Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation (PMPI), School of
Engineering Science (SES), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).

Zhihua Feng

Zhihua Feng was born in 1964. He received his BE, ME and PhD degrees in Precision
Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), in
1987, 1990, and 2005, respectively. He is now an Associate Professor at the
Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation, USTC. His
research interests include smart actuators and sensors, energy harvesting, power
electronics, and robotics.

Fanrang Kong

Fanrang Kong was born in 1951. He received his BE from Tsinghua University in
1978, ME from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1983 and PhD
degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1990, respectively.
Since 1998, he has been a Professor in the Department of Precision Machinery and
Precision Instrumentation of USTC. His research interests include smart-material
actuators, status monitoring and faults diagnosis.

Yongbin Liu

Yongbin Liu received his ME degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Science and Technology of China (USTC), in 2004. Since 2005, he has served as a
Mechanical Engineer in the Department of Precision Machinery and Precision
Instrumentation, USTC. His research interests include smart-material actuators and
status monitoring and faults diagnosis.
