Welcome & Apologies

Bernie and Katie welcomed everyone and apologies were read out (see above)

Minutes of Last meeting
AGM minutes were read out and approved by committee member – Jo Fenton

Treasurer’s report
Julia was unable to make the meeting but notes and the treasurer’s report were
made available for the file. £3,211 is currently available to spend, but this amount
excludes Xmas Trees, Puddings, Gift Wrap (estimate £500) and Fireworks Match
funding (TBC £1450).
Julia is currently looking into possibility of using the School payment system
(Tuscasi) for Friends payments to avoid ‘00s cheques.

School funding requests
Mr Hole presented 2 funding requests and also advised that the school are currently
looking into the process for requesting funding from the Friends and are looking at
high impact projects. Mr Hole will present back at the next meeting.



#1 iTunes vouchers for school events – Leaver’s Ball, Disco, parties and
assemblies. TBC cost of £50 – Mr Hole was advised of various retailer
promotions that are currently available.
#2 4 x Popcorn machines for Y4 enterprise week. TBC cost of £100 – Mr Hole
was advised of various retailer promotions and products available.
#3 520 x reflective snap bands for walk to school initiative. TBC cost of £500 –
formal funding request to be submitted.

Feedback from events
Bag2School: still awaiting some funding to come in. TBC June for next event.
Cake & Uniform sale: discussion on the running of the event and request for items to
go onto Website / order form to be made available / update on Parent Mail. Form to
be produced for requests for uniform. Next official sale taking place in May.

October AGM: Well attended and the Posters requesting volunteers for the various
activities were well received. List of additional volunteers to be forwarded to Chairs.

Fireworks: Lower turnout than in previous years but still well attended given weather
conditions! Event is becoming more and more expensive to run – TBC price increase
needed for 2014. Discussion on sliding scale of ticket pricing – earlier purchase for
cheaper entry. 7th November is provisional date for 2014 – to be confirmed.

New Gazebo’s needed for 2014 – Nick Fenson advised Red ones are stronger.

Potential food amends for 2014 – Samosa’s and Tomato soup less popular initially.
Christmas Card project: Nic Wood not available to update – Children have now
received their cards.

Forthcoming Events
Xmas puddings: ongoing sales at pre-xmas school events.
Gift Wrap: Jemma has now submitted 18 orders with a profit of £60 for school. Olga
Steins will take over running of event in 2014.
Xmas Trees: STOP PRESS – final order number now total 38, absolutely smashing
last year’s total of 25! Jane will update at next meeting with profit £ for school.

As of Committee meeting - with 2 more days until the deadline for orders - 23 had
been sold with £238 profit for school. 65 local residents leafleted, 1 ordered. 60%
orders have come from those who purchased in 2012.

Approved at AGM and all forms now on file

Election of Trustees
Follow up with Julia for online access to change trustee information.

Summer Fete: Lucy Hill has very kindly offered to co-ordinate 2014 Summer Fete.
However, discussions centred around a committee set up for the Summer Fete
involving the Class Reps and additional volunteers needed from the Friends
Committee. Discussion points as follows:






Class Rep involvement – 1 stall per class/year group
Auction to be held for higher value prizes
Volunteers needed for Friday donations
Separate Fete committee to be set up
Email all Class Reps asking for their input
Separate Fete meeting to be held in January 2014, following next Committee
meeting on the 16th

TBC Date of 21st June – Chair to confirm OK with Head.
Dad’s Night Out: Jon Vetori (Class Rep) will use next DNO to request for Volunteers
for various events and also scout for ideas on additional fund raising activities and
social events.
Ladies Night in: Jane Stapleton put forward an idea for a fund raiser – ticketed event
for health and beauty treatments and items for Sale for £1 each (donated by those
attending). Sale of Wine / Alcohol / Corkage fee for BYO – TBC date in March 2014.
Easy Fundraising online: Fleur requested that the Friday Flyer includes the link for
parents to use for Xmas shopping online.

Christmas Fair: 6th December 5-7pm. Friends run the Cake Stall at the Fair.
Volunteers needed to run the stall and also to take in the donations in the morning.
Volunteers for co-ordinating donations: Laura S / Fiona H / Ginny H.
Email will also be sent out for volunteers via the Class Reps.
Charities nominations for school: Jo and Louise made a request for those who do not
have a nominated charity already to use Operation Xmas Child.
Xmas Gift shop idea: Presented by Katie Knowles - could be used for Mother’s Day
2014 – details kept in Friends File. Katie to follow up with school to check if Mother’s
Day event is ok to use.
