CAADA Role Profile Role Reports to Hours Holiday Start date Location Term Salary December 2013 Senior Researcher – Themis Project Head of Research and Evaluation Full Time (37.5 hours per week over 5 days) – but part time (minimum 3.5 days pw) will be considered 25 days + bank holidays (pro rata) As soon as possible Bristol ( home working or London office applications will be considered) 2 year fixed term contract (secondments will be considered) £28,000 - £35,000 per annum FTE plus pension after 6 months 365 day a year access to an Employee Assistance programme Employer administered Childcare Voucher scheme, Cycle to Work scheme Key purpose of role To lead our Themis research project evaluating the impact of locating specialist domestic violence services in health locations, and communicate the results to policy-makers, front-line practitioners and the domestic abuse sector. Responsibilities 1. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the Themis research project, including: Administering telephone questionnaires with domestic violence service clients Arranging and conducting interviews/focus groups with service users, health professionals and other stakeholders Conducting statistical analysis on health questionnaire data Analysing and writing up results from the interviews/focus groups Drawing together overall conclusions and findings for an interim report in 2014 and final report in 2015, including coordinating health economics input from experts 2. Ensure that the work is of the highest quality, relevance and value for money and that it is completed using the most appropriate techniques and methodologies. 3. Lead the relationships and communication with the Themis evaluation sites (including control sites) including managing data quality, sharing best practice and identifying and resolving issues. 4. Manage relationships with and consult as appropriate the external Expert Panel 5. Establish and manage relationships with a Themis Survivor Panel 6. In conjunction with internal stakeholders, ensure the production of high quality policy messages and briefings, and disseminate findings appropriately to both internal and external audiences 7. Develop delivery and research plans manage progress against them 8. Manage project budget, monitoring spend against plans 9. Deputise for the Head of Research & Evaluation as appropriate 10. Contribute to the wider R&E team, including developing, planning and conducting other research, and developing research skills across CAADA 11. Contribute to the wider work of CAADA as appropriate. Person specification Qualifications 1. Educated to at least master’s degree level or holding an equivalent professional qualification Skills Essential 2. Proven track record for delivering research projects that are practice- and/or policy- related (e.g. in an academic, public or voluntary sector organisation) 3. Strong quantitative skills, including direct experience of administering questionnaires, designing and conducting appropriate quantitative analysis of survey data 4. Solid qualitative skills, with experience of conducting and analysing interviews and/or focus groups 1 5. Experience of planning, organising and successfully delivering a busy project workload and working with multiple stakeholders including service users 6. Experience of conducting research with vulnerable groups and/or about a sensitive topic 7. Excellent research interpretation skills with an ability to identify key themes in complex material 8. Experience of conducting research with vulnerable people about a sensitive topic 9. Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and SPSS Desirable 10. PhD in relevant field 11. Working knowledge of the domestic abuse sector or social care sectors and of working with stakeholders from the health sector 12. Experience in policy development or communication 13. Good budget management 14.
