Honor Cord Program Purpose: To recruit high school students to donate at least four times before they graduate To build brand loyalty with our high school donors so they choose LifeSouth over competitors in between the drives at their school To recognize and thank high school donors Messaging: Graduate with lifesaving honors. LifeSouth’s honor cord program allows high school students to receive the Honor Cord of Courage at graduation for the accomplishment of donating blood four times before high school graduation. Target: High school students age 16+ Collateral: • Letter template to send to contacts at high school • 11x17 posters • Half-page flyers • Donor card to keep track of donations • Congratulatory half-page flyer • Silver/red twisted honor cords at graduation • Electronic FB badge How it works: Use the letter template to send to your school’s principals/superintendents/etc. to request permission for students to wear our honor cords at their graduation Poster put up at high school drives that promotes the honor cord program o Explains that students must donate four times WITH LIFESOUTH to earn a cord for graduation o Explains that students can check the Donor Kiosk online or call Donor Scheduling to find out how many donations they have so far Students will be given a half-page flyer and business card sized donor card with the honor cord information on it so they have a takeaway at their high school drive as a reminder of the program Each time they donate, a donor services tech can sign off a slot on their donor card at the post-donation location After four donations: o Students can call Donor Scheduling with any questions or verification of their donation status o Students call Donor Scheduling after their four donations (their donor card can help them keep track of this) o Each donor will be verified in IBBIS by Megan Watkins that they have made at least a minimum of four donations with LifeSouth o Once all names have been verified, the cords will then be sent to each recruiter for delivery to each high school a minimum of two weeks prior to graduation o The student receives a silver/red twisted graduation cord via the high school chairperson and/or recruiter o Students also receive a congratulatory flyer that thanks them for donating & explains how to download the electronic Facebook badge o Students can go to the website to download the honor badge for their Facebook page (http://www.lifesouth.org/high-school-fb-graphic/) Password: lifesouthlovesyou This recognition process is donor owned o Donors must monitor their own donations and ask to be added to the list to receive the cord at graduation Contacts: If you have questions about the program, or to receive copies of the posters, halfpage flyers or donor cards, please contact Koertni Blackketter with the quantities you need. 352-224-1725 klblackketter@lifesouth.org To check a student’s donation status so they can be added to the list to receive an honor cord, contact Megan Watkins with their donor information. 352-2241775 mawatkins@lifesouth.org
