Bridges Out of Poverty Workshop What Every Church Member Should Know About Poverty Friday, October 25, 2013 6:00 – 8:00 pm Gregorian Room St. Joseph University Parish Seminar Overview This seminar presents information and issues to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues faced by people living in poverty and ways in which churches may minister to individuals in poverty. Topics include: the hidden rules of middle class, language patterns and cognition, violence and conflict resolution, family and relationship building, and church participation. This seminar is based on the book What Every Church Member Should Know About Poverty by Bill Ehlig and Dr. Ruby K. Payne. The seminar is designed for members of the faith community, ministers, and church staff members. Beth Pace, a certified instructor and a customer outreach representative for Vectren, will deliver the seminar at no cost. St. Joseph University Parish is hosting the seminar and invites any member of the parish who is interested in better understanding the challenges faced by the poor in our community.
