Position Description Delivery Offsider Volunteer Location: Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocese Division: Centres Reports: Volunteers Work Experience, Interns Reports to: Director, Centres Position Delivery offsiders' assist the truck/ute drivers. The offsider accompanies the driver in picking up donations from people’s homes and dropping off donations to people who have requested furniture. But sometimes other goods are also collected or delivered, circumstance dependent. Key Responsibilities Liaising with customers regarding a pick up or drop off of their furniture Being able to lift furniture and assorted donations from a ground level property to the truck for no more than 65 meters or less using the correct apparatus available Helping driver to take any unwanted items to the rubbish dump Keeping pickup and delivery docket paperwork in check Compliance with organisational policies and procedures, training requirements, legislation, health and safety, diversity and a commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement. Work Health and Safety Requirements Basic understanding of WH&S Must be able to lift/move 15-25 kgs bags and boxes, multiple times on and off truck with lifting, bending, reaching up and down Must be able to assess and lift furniture manually and/or with lifting aids if probable Covered shoes to be worn at all times whilst onsite Ladder and trolley usage (pushing and pulling movements) If driving a Society vehicle, a valid drivers license must be held and a copy provided Personal protective equipment as required is provided and is to be used as instructed Commitment to ethos of St Vincent de Paul Society A clear understanding of the role and ethos of the Society and its objectives, along with evidence of a strong commitment to reflect its mission and values in all dealings with employees, volunteers and those whom we assist.
