NHS Open Athens
Having an NHS Open Athens account will unlock access to a wide range of online journals
and databases. Resources can be access at anytime or anywhere

Visit http://www.evidence.nhs.uk/ and then choose Journals and Databases
Healthcare databases
Search for journal articles on any health care related topic. Full text links are given where
available (including the full text journal collections listed below). There are 8 main databases
to search including:

BNI – covers British nursing journals

CINAHL – large US database on nursing and allied health

HMIC – health management articles – useful for finding information about health care
policy, strategy, quality, standards, funding etc

PsycINFO – useful for psychological aspects related to nursing such as carer stress

Quickly find if the article you need is available online with your Open Athens account
(including titles found in Proquest Hospital Collection and PsycArticles)

Proquest Hospital Collection – extensive range of journals in health and social care
PsycArticles –psychology journals which may include papers on dementia and other
mental health issues in older people
