Preschool program: Enrol now for Kindy in 2016 if your child was born on or before the 30th April 2012. We have
a 15 hour Preschool (Kindergarten) program, staffed by DECD (Department for Education & Child Development)
Staff for the 4 terms prior to the child’s school starting date. (Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or special needs
children are entitled to early entry please phone centre for details 83826161)
Long Day Childcare: We are open from 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and offer half day, full day, full
week, lunch care and casual sessions for children aged 6 weeks of age until they start school. We are an
approved childcare service that operates under the Child Care Management System (CCMS) so if eligible you
can claim CCB (Child Care Benefit), CCR (Child Care Rebate) & JFA (Jobs, Education and Training Child Care
fee assistance) as a weekly reduction to your fees payable. We have a cook to allow your child/ren to enjoy a
yummy healthy lunch plus we also supply nappies. Some scholarships are available to eligible families.
Coffee N Chat & Motivating Mummies: The finer weather has turned this group into a walking group, so please
join us, whether you’re a Mummy, Daddy, Nanna or a friend. Friendly dogs on a lead and prams welcome. You
are welcome to stay and have a coffee in the Yellow Unit afterwards. We meet at 9am at the Front Office. In the
incidence of rain or extreme heat we will just have coffee.
Autism Support Group, Southern Family Connection: An opportunity to chat, link and have a coffee in a safe
and friendly environment. This group is for parents/grandparents and carers who have family members with an
Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental disability. No formal diagnosis required and all welcome!
Drum Beat: Come and explore the dynamics of friendships and relationships through drumming and having fun.
No drumming experience necessary or required! Bring a sense of humour and a willingness to learn. Limited
places - bookings essential.
Family Express: Looking for something to do after school? Join us for an afternoon of free family fun. Share a
yummy snack and join in indoor and outdoor activities including, crafts, arts, games, science projects, woodwork
and outdoor games. Bookings though the Hackham West Community Centre.
Walk & Talk: For families and children of the Children’s Centre. Join us as we walk and talk together (weather
permitting), a great way to spend some quality time with your child during a relaxed walk around the local area.
Foodie Friends: For Children of the Children’s Centre with families welcome to join in, it allows children to
investigate food and try new tastes.
Circle of Security Program: An 8 week parenting program which explores the relationship between parents and children
by looking at the messages behind children's behaviour.
MyTime Parents Group: This group provides support for mums and dads caring for children with a disability or
chronic medical condition (birth-16 years). Provides an opportunity for ‘time out’, to socialise and share ideas with
others about issues relating to your caring role. Morning tea and a free crèche for children 0 - 5 years provided.
MyTime for Grandparents Group: This program supports grandparents who are the primary carers of children
up to age 18 years with a disability or medical condition. Provides an opportunity for group ‘time out’, to socialise
and share ideas with others. Lunch and free crèche for children 0 - 5 years provided.
Scrapbooking: Scrapbooking and colouring corner. Would you like to discover or revive you creative side plus
spend some time on a hobby for you, while meeting and socialising with likeminded people? If so please come
along to our scrapbooking sessions. Please bring along existing projects or start a new project, children welcome
but no crèche available. Gold coin donation appreciated.
Further Study info session: It might not be as difficult as you think! Why not come along to a free information
session. Information session will be run by Felicity from the Student Access Unit at Flinders University.
Hippy (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters: Is a FREE educational program for all children
and their Families. We encourage our Aboriginal Families to join as this is an Aboriginal Focus Program. This is also an
opportunity for a Parent to become a paid Home Tutor. Families receive a set of Activity Packs, story books and other
materials designed to help their child’s learning.
Boot Camp: Would you like to be healthier, happier and get in shape plus undertake a program by a qualified
trainer therefore saving $ as well as have the opportunity to socialise with other parents/carer’s? If so come along
to our boot camp at Versatile Fitness. Please consult your doctor/health care professional before undertaking any
physical activity/program. Booking essential. Gold coin donation appreciated.
People Matters – Hackham West? It’s a group of community members and local organisations which aim is to
better meet the needs of the local community in Hackham West.
Playgroup Hackham West R – 7 School: Come meet others and spend some quality time with your child while
they grow and learn in a friendly environment. Children 0 to school age welcome. Facilitated by Louise & Emma.
Yellow Unit Access: Are you unsure of the local community help available to you? If yes, join the free YU
Access Program. We can offer you assistance in many areas including your budget, navigating the school
system, recipe tips, menu ideas or what your contraception and family planning options are. As well as if you are
feeling a little bit isolated, lost or lonely you will have the opportunity to meet other people in your area, plus more.
Q&A on Kids: Is an opportunity for parents, carers and Children’s Centre staff to speak with allied health workers
including an Occupational & Speech Therapist about any concerns or questions regarding children’s talking,
listening, eating, sleeping, body movements, play, behaviour or anything to do with children and parents/carers.
