OARDC Staff Council Meeting Minutes July 10, 2014 “The mission of OARDC Staff Council is to enhance the working environment of the OARDC community by facilitating communication between staff and administration, and by promoting opportunities for staff advancement and recognition.” Present: Sarah McNulty, Kimberly Nolletti, Heidi Swartz, Martha Bollinger, Julie Morris, Hannah Gehman, Cathy Herms, Kimberly Sayers, Chelsea Smith; Kyle Bennett, Beth Rigsby Meeting called to order by Sarah McNulty at 1:07 pm. Treasurer’s Report: Heidi distributed the report via email. May’s ending balance is $4,441.03. Kimberly Nolletti moved to approve the treasurer’s report, seconded by Chelsea Smith. All approved. Minutes: Hannah distributed the June 12 minutes via email. No corrections noted. Heidi Swartz moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Kimberly Nolletti. All approved. Administrative: Kimberly Nolletti reported that she has been busy archiving our information in our Buckeye Box. New Mother’s Room is organized. Sarah McNulty mentioned the Lunch and Learn held recently with Dr. Russell Conrad (retired OARDC) presented history of OARDC. He started the Staff Council in 1988 and is providing documents to add to our archives on Buckeye Box. Communications: Martha created signage for the candy bars and popcorn sales and distributed to those present to use with their items for sale. Newsletter draft is in process. Critical for all articles to be turned in to Cathy Herms ASAP so we can keep on schedule. Several upcoming areas that will be in the newsletter regarding staff appreciation were discussed and clarified, e.g., Day with Department or Day with Staff. Decision made to call it Day with Department Staff. Development: Julie Morris reported the T-shirts were in transit. During the meeting they arrived and Gwen Covert brought over 3 for group to see. Group agreed to offer at an “Introduction Sale Price” of $12. Committee after costs are finalized will recommend at next meeting if this is a good price or change. Committee is also working on logo hats and polo shirts to expand our line. Note: After the meeting it was discovered the grey and red t-shirts had a printing flaw and the committee will determine how to handle this situation with J America. We will sell the white t-shirts for now. Unfinished Business: Staff Appreciation Ice Cream Truck (July 30). Sarah McNulty and Kimberly Nolletti made an executive decision to go ahead with the Ice Cream Truck to recognize staff during CFAES Staff Appreciation Week (7/28-8/1). Heidi Swartz handed out the gold tokens that will be given to staff to obtain one ice cream treat value up to $2. Jingle Brothers will provide the ice cream and truck. Cathy Herms will work on the map for stops based on discussion of committee at the meeting. Martha Bollinger will ride with the truck to take pictures. Kimberly Nolletti shared an instruction flyer to give to office personnel when they pass out their coins. Day with the Department Staff (August 14). Sarah McNulty reported that Dr. Benfield will go to SENR from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Committee decided to ask OSU Police to participate with Dr. Slack. Kyle Bennett will confirm with IT as back up if OSU Police cannot participate. Kimberly Sayers will confirm Hawks Nest for Dr. Kinder which will need to be in the morning to participate with most of the staff. We will need to arrange for someone to capture pictures of the event as many of the committee members will be in a quarterly Fiscal/HR meeting on that date. OARDC Staff Council will pay for all refreshments. FunFest: Assignments were made for Fun Fest on August 15. Food, paper products – Martha Drinks & jello – Kimberly Sayers (ATI) Ice cream – Jane Douglas (provided by CFAES Staff Advisory Council) Peanuts – Kimberly N. Roaster – April and Debbie Prizes – Sarah Games and other details will be discussed at a special meeting. Wayne County Fair (Sept. 6-11): Hannah, Kyle and Kimberly N. will be on the fair committee. We will meet with Jeff LeJeune from Food Animal Health and make arrangements for setup, giveaways, volunteers, t-shirts and water. Heidi will ask for volunteers and Cathy and Sarah will help with setup and tear down days. Meeting was adjourned at 3 pm. Next meeting is scheduled for August 14 at 1 pm.
