Guidance for Visiting Professor/Fellowship Schemes

Applications are invited for two different fellowship schemes:

1. University Research Committee (URC) Visiting Professorships and Fellowships

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting high quality research, and in order to attract high quality people to Newcastle, URC is making available its fund to support Visiting Professorships and

Fellowships again during the 2014-15 academic year. Academic Units are therefore invited to bid to this fund to a maximum of £4,000 for Fellows and £8,000 for Professors. Bids should be short-term from 1 to 3 months in duration; their purpose may include, for example, a series of seminars, or collaborative bid development. Applicants should ensure that Professors/Fellows have agreed in principle to be nominated. Priority will be given to those proposals that clearly demonstrate the long term benefits to the research environment and capacity in Newcastle University. Visiting Professors and Fellows will be asked to give a Faculty Lecture. In 2015, successful applicants will be asked for a report on the outcome of the visit.

2. Santander Visiting Research Fellow Fund

Santander is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for visiting research fellows.

The Santander Visiting Research Fellowship Fund is offering two awards of £4,500 each to support two high profile visiting research fellows for up to four months (one semester) each.

The research fellows should undertake a specified programme of research at Newcastle University, relating to an aspect of Iberian or Latin American Studies.
