NZWiL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MĀORI AND PASIFIKA WOMEN The NZWiL Programme has envisaged, since its inception in 2007, that the NZWiL participant group needs to reflect the diversity of eligible academic and general staff across the participant universities. Māori and Pasifika women are equity groups which are underrepresented in both academic and general staff roles and at senior leadership levels. Whilst there has been a small number of participants from these equity groups at the NZWiL Programmes it has been suggested by NZWiL Alumni that these equity groups would benefit from an increased focus on encouraging improved participation. The NZWiL Steering Group established, in 2011, two scholarships for each NZWiL programme, for these equity groups. The scholarships are partially funded by the NZWiL Programme which is co-ordinated by the NZWiL Steering Group. The NZWiL Programme is endorsed by Universities New Zealand - Te Pôkai Tara.
