A. Rationale: The purpose of this game is to further explore the three main religions and cultures
studied in this unit. The board game is designed to act as a review at the end of the unit that
provide questions and activities using modeling clay. It has been created to compare and
contrast the religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. This game is suitable for students in
grade 7 and older.
B. Outcomes:
GCO’s:
Culture and Diversity: Students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of cultural,
diversity and world view, recognizing the similarities and differences reflected in various personal,
cultural, racial and ethnic perspectives.
By the end of grade 9, students will be expected to…
-Compare the ways cultures meet human needs and wants.
-Explain how and why perspectives influence the ways in which experiences are interpreted.

-Investigate the push and pull factors that brought these groups to Canada.

tradition and spirituality.

and interpersonal communications.
2. Injury: recognize that there are various perspectives in the area of injury, recognize bias in
others and in themselves and appreciate the value of critical and creative thinking.
3. Participation: take responsibility for individual and group work, respond to class, school,
community, or national public issues and value the importance of taking action to support
responsible citizenship.
C. Description of the game:
This game was designed to further discover three of the most popular religions in the world. It
outlines cultural and religious aspects that make our country so diverse. It is intended to provide
an overview of a culture unit studied with study questions and tasks.
D. Directions/Rules
1. Each player must choose a marking device for the board game.
2. The materials provided are intended to be used for specific questions such as the clay and
drawing paper.
3. The player that rolls the highest number may play first.
4. Each player must start at the “Star of David” symbol presented on the board game.
5. Once you have rolled the dice you must move according to the number rolled and land on
an according color (yellow, white or green).
6. Each colored block represents a religion and questions are provided on the back of the
playing card.
7. Judaism is represented by yellow, Christianity by white and Islam, green.
8. Take turns rolling the dice with participants and answer the questions provided.
9. This game acts as a review for the end of a unit and is intended to be used as a study tool.
10. It does not matter how many times you have proceeded around the board as long as all
questions have been answered.
11. Challenge yourself and see how many you can answer correctly.

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birth. Many celebrations and traditions are presented on this day
and event. Construct with clay or draw a symbol that may represent a Christmas tradition.

During Ramadan Muslims will fast between sunrise to sunset. Ramadan is meant to bring Muslims closer
to God by cleansing the body and mind. What month does this occur?
Children and those who are sick do not fast. At the end of Ramadan a special festival is shared among
families and friends with a prepared meal, exchange of gifts and prayer to remember those who died in
the last year. Create a visual representation with the clay of this event.
