Consider being part of our next Live Healthy Clinic at the First Presbyterian Church of Nelsonville, 69 E.
Washington St!
It is our hope that by attending you will have significant improvement in your health and medical conditions,
decreasing your risk of heart attack, stroke, many forms of cancer and other chronic diseases, as well as
decreasing your need of medication, thereby saving money at the same time!
During the 12-week program, each two-hour session consists of a weigh-in, a healthy food demonstration and
sampling, watching educational presentations, exercise and group discussions. You will have weekly assignments that
will be practical, educational, and hopefully fun!
Who should attend?
1) Anyone who is suffering from one or more of the following chronic western diseases:
a. Cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) disease
b. Diabetes or borderline diabetes
c. Overweight
d. High blood pressure or borderline high blood pressure
e. Elevated cholesterol or triglyceride
f. Inflammatory bowel disease, or other disorders of the gastrointestinal tract
2) Anyone who is ready to take charge of his / her own health and make lifestyle changes:
a. Be willing to increase healthy foods in your diet.
b. Be willing to decrease unhealthy foods and additives in your diet.
c. Be willing to participate in an exercise program.
Other Requirements:
1. Participate in an initial and final health risk assessment consisting of, blood pressure, height, weight and waist
circumference measurements, health questionnaires and lab work (fasting glucose and lipid profile, hemoglobin
A1c if you are diabetic). If you have had the required blood work done within thirty days of beginning the course,
we can utilize this information and won’t need to repeat the initial blood testing.
2. Be under the care of a primary health care provider (PCP), or be willing to begin a relationship with a PCP. (We
can help you locate one) Any charges associated with a PCP are your responsibility, and not provided as part of
this program.
3. Come prepared to enjoy a healthy food sample and dressed in comfortable clothing for some exercise.
How much does it cost? It is free!
The class materials, food and lab work will be provided free of charge by DHN as a community benefit. The First
Presbyterian Church will provide logistics and classroom space.
When:
12 weekly meetings, 6:00-8:00, Monday, Feb 17 until May 12. (We will not meet April 28).
