Keynote Speaker: LINDA PASTAN is a nationally acclaimed poet who has been compared to Robert Frost and praised by May Sarton. She grew up in New York City, graduated from Radcliffe College, and received an MA from Brandeis University. She has published 12 volumes of poetry, most recently Queen of a Rainy Country. Two of these books have been finalists for the National Book Award. Her new book, Traveling Light, is due from Norton in January. Pastan's poems have appeared in many journals, including The Atlantic Monthly, The New Yorker, The Nation, The Georgia Review. She has been Poet Laureate of Maryland, and in 2003 she won the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize for lifetime achievement. She lives with her husband in Potomac Maryland. A journal keeper since age 12, Sherri received certification as a Journal Facilitator through the Center for Journal Therapy in Denver, Colorado last summer. She is enthusiastic about sharing therapeutic benefits of journal writing with others. PM2 Karen Stefano, Ed.M., M.A., L.P.C., is an artist and practicing counselor. She has been leading Collage Playshops around the world for more than 20 years. Renny received an MSW from Catholic University. They enjoy tending their horses and garden in Bakerton. AM 2 Betty Ellzey, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of English, Co-coordinator of Women’s Studies, and Director of the Rude Mechanicals Medieval and Renaissance Players at Shepherd University. She earned her Ph.D. in Medieval Literature from Catholic University. She started dancing in college, over 40 years ago, and has continued taking ballet and modern dance ever since. AM 3 Peggy Osna Heller, PhD, LICSW, RPT, is a diplomate in clinical social work, a clinical poetry therapist, and a master mentor/supervisor and has been active in the poetry therapy community since 1981 when she completed her poetry therapy training at St. Elizabeths Hospital. She has held poetry therapy positions at major Washington, D.C. psychiatric hospitals and treatment centers and with Kenneth Gorelick, M.D. co-directed the Wordsworth Center for Growth and Healing.
