Aracelis Girmay is the author of the poetry collections Teeth & Kingdom Animalia. Teeth was
awarded the GLCA New Writers Award & Kingdom Animalia won the Isabella Gardner
Poetry Award & was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Girmay is also the
author of the collage-based picture book changing, changing. She is the recipient of grants &
fellowships from the Jerome Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cave
Canem Foundation, & the Civitella Ranieri Foundation. Girmay is on the faculty of
Hampshire College's School for Interdisciplinary Arts & she also teaches poetry in Drew
University's low-residency MFA program.
