Continue clauses (WCWB—independent vs. subordinate)

Students read page 1204 in Lit book (‘Sing in me, Muse […] life the great song again…) by way of introduction to Odysseus. a.

Students paraphrase 1 st stanza as a class, with teacher modeling. Students paraphrase 2 nd stanza in partners. b.

Students create a Character Traits/ Evidence Chart where they must find at least three different character traits of Odysseus mentioned in the poem, and cite the lines where they got it from. c.

Students begin reading Ulysses (prologue—page 15)

Exit slip: students must write down one character trait they saw in Ulysses/Odysseus from the reading that day, and they must provide evidence from the reading to support that character trait.
