Together, we will work hard and have great adventures through reading! As a sixth grade student, there are great expectations. As we prepare to enter middle school, I will ask the students to act responsibly when it comes to their class work and behavior. They will become “Active Readers!” We will be integrating the Pearson Reading Street Curriculum and independent pieces of literature. Students will learn strategies to enable them to become an even better reader. PreAP and close reading strategies will be incorporated in our curriculum. During the literacy block, we will also be integrating our writing. Reading and writing go hand-in-hand! Your child will work on various writing pieces that will be sent to middle school in the spring. Students will also be keeping a free-write journal! You will be asked periodically to write in these journals as well. Please take a moment to read over our plan for this year. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! Thank you, Mrs. Sharp
