Kuwait Road Assessment Additional Information
Road Construction / Maintenance
Between Sunday - Thursday (workdays) trucks are banned to enter the inner city limits during rush
hours (06:30 – 09:30 AM and 12:30 – 15:30 PM). This is permanent since some time back and should
be taken into consideration during operational planning, especially due to Shuwaikh Port being
located within this ‘banned area’ limiting exit to/from the port to non-peak hours. The banned area
apply for both light and heavy trucks, and tractors. For more details see Kuwait City under ‘Road
Corridor Assessment’.
Among the new road development projects planned in and around Kuwait City ‘The Ghazali project’
near Al-Ghazali Highway and ‘the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Bridge’, are worth mentioning
since even though aims at reducing congestion in the Shuwaikh area, during construction phase
access to Shuwaikh Port and the nearby Shuwaikh Industrival Area will be further hampered.
Bridges
Kuwait has a bridge height of 5.5mts, load height not to exceed 5mtrs from the ground including the
