Librarians and educators care about copyright. But it’s often a delicate balance between the user’s right to access information and the interests of the copyright holders. If you feel stuck in the middle of a dilemma that seems to intensify with the speed of digital technology, it’s time to recalculate. The TCLC Educational Development Committee has invited Carrie Russell, copyright specialist at the American Library Association to present a half-day program reviewing the basics of copyright law, and to bring us up to speed on the latest in copyright reform. Copyright issues with licensing electronic materials, issues with using Blackboard, avoiding plagiarism, and your suggestions will be on the agenda.
