(see separate report and below in General Business, with details) YMCA – After School program proposal – negotiations are still in process Mal Whyte Brick Wall – Scott has contacted Neil Thomson to assess the wall. – waiting for a quote to fix the cracks, however Neil has advised that it’s safe for children to play as usual. Information Evening for 2015 Families – confirmed date 1st May – advertised in Riverine Herald Photo copier contract – new quotes from Peat’s Office Equipment, Echuca and SHARP, Bendigo – by Lisa at school office. Finance Report - Motion: That the Financial Reports for the months of February and March 2014 be received and that the accounts paid therein be ratified and further that the tabling of the receipt journals for the month of February and March 2014 be acknowledged. Moved: Rohan Stone Seconded: Ange Procter Carried 3.2 Principal’s Report: presented by Gayle Bedford - None 3.3 Teaching & Learning Report: Rob Hogan - None 3.4 Staff Development: Gavan Hughes - None 3.5 Community Engagement/Parents & friends: by Scott Trewhella The Student Engagement Policy has been updated and sent to School Council members for ratification and the Wellbeing & Engagement components of the AIP have been completed. The Student Engagement & Wellbeing Plan has also been amended. Sustainability Soldiers Amy has commenced her work with the Sustainability Soldiers. They are carrying out water quality testing in the Campaspe River and are now looking at ways to reduce wastage and power usage within the school environment. Student Lunches There are a number of students who are occasionally attending school without adequate food. This is of concern to the teaching staff. Moama Bakery are happy to provide loaves of bread in order to make emergency lunches, rather than sending the students to the canteen. Building resilience The SEW team are looking at ways that they can highlight this to our parent body. We will be looking at providing excerpts for the newsletter as well as directing parents to the wellbeing link on our website. Libby is attending a parent forum on building resilience and the information she gathers will be used to assist with our own parent forum. Student Action Team 1|P a g e Echuca Primary School School Council Minutes 2014 ‘A School with Tradition and a Future’ The SAT team in conjunction with the P & F conducted a very successful Easter Raffle raising $1000. This money was used to purchase a camera valued at $500. A donation of $500 was also made to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The SAT team also hosted a lunchtime Easter Colouring in day, which was attended by 200 Foundation, 1 and 2 students. The SAT team will be conducting a wear orange for One and All Inclusion casual clothes day to assist One and All with their program. It will be held on Friday, 9th May and be by gold coin donation. The team will also be looking to host a disco late in term 2 – date to be confirmed. 3.6 Facilities Report: – by Gayle Bedford Discussion regarding: Garden bed near amphitheatre needs either tougher plants or extension of seating. Mal Whyte has suggested a white picket fence to go around the Memorial Garden. (see action below) 4. Suggested: more headings, simplified the jargon, dot points. Action: Gayle to modify and forward to parents Action: Prior to the 2014 Survey being sent out, the school hosts an information evening for parents to explain the questions Information only. 5.4 Parent Opinion Survey Council discussed the information provided from 2013 Survey, focussing on the 4 measures ranked in lowest quartile 5.4.1 Attitudes to School Survey Level 5/6 students will be surveyed next week. This data is part of the targets in the Annual Implementation Plan with outcomes included in the Annual Report. Saturday 7am-set up, 9-4pm-open to the public. Dinner = free night for Clubbers, no need to cater. Sunday car run begins at EPS oval to a set destination.
