Scott County Historical Society Awarded a
Toro Foundation Legacy Grant
SHAKOPEE, MN (6/25/2014) —The Scott County Historical Society (SCHS) is pleased to
announce it has received a Toro Foundation grant of $45,000 in support of its Museum Garden
Landscape Project.
This grant will allow the Society to better serve its communities, implement identified strategic
plan actions and further its mission. The board and staff discussed in detail the opportunities
presented by this grant that will have the biggest impact for the long-term. The project includes
designing and implementing a comprehensive, efficient landscape plan that includes: replacing
the current inefficient irrigation system, creating a garden that complements the historic 1920s
Stans House, and increasing opportunities for educational programs, interpretation and
community involvement with the Stans House.
The Society is grateful to The Toro Foundation for this generous grant.
