Friday, December 18, 2015 Dear Parents and Students: Our Senior boys and girls basketball seasons are upon us once again and participation is open to students in Junior High. As a school, we provide extracurricular sport activities for students to gain the experience of playing a sport and representing their school in competition. We require a positive attitude, good work ethic and 90% attendance – if you are involved in other extracurricular activities, we would recommend you consider carefully all of your obligations, so you are able to attend the practices and games. Our focus as coaches and teachers is to provide an opportunity for athletes to have fun, improve their skill level, increase their physical fitness, self-confidence and teamwork. We would like to remind you of our participation policy and that these are in place for all school sports. The “code of ethics” will be in effect. Inappropriate classroom conduct and or negative behaviours during practices or games will not be tolerated and may result in missed games or suspension from the team. Players must keep up with school work, assignments and responsibilities or risk forfeiting basketball games. Proper gym attire is required for games and practices. You must have your team uniform as well as indoor running shoes to participate in games and tournaments. Boys’ practices will be Tuesday or Thursday after school 3:45 pm-4:45 pm and one lunch hour at Colborne gym. Games are Monday and Wednesday 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. Girls’ practices will be one day after school from 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm and one lunch hour at Colborne Gym. Games are Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 pm- 5:00 pm. Due to refereeing conflicts some practices may be rescheduled to Monday or Friday at lunch. Please keep watch on the Jr. High website. Please ensure that you arrange a ride to the games and one to pick you up at the appropriate location and time after the games. All games will be played at the other school’s gym. Please speak to Dave or Janet if you have any concerns. We look forward to a great season! Please sign and return to Janet or Dave by Monday, January 4, 2016. We have read and understand the above criteria for participation on the basketball team.
