information for anyone affected by breast cancer.

The Post:
With a target of over £4.6m in 2014/15, our Corporate Fundraising team raises a significant portion of
the funds needed for the life-changing services provided by Breast Cancer Care.
We are proud of our long-term, high value partnerships with companies such as Asda, QVC, BHS and
Dorothy Perkins, and we have won a number of fantastic new partnerships recently - including
becoming the new official charity partner for The FA 2014-16 (aiming to raise £500,000 and raising
awareness of the charity’s work and breast awareness messages on a transformational scale).
The successful candidate will sit within our new business team, reporting in to the New Business
Manager, working alongside two other New Business Officers, and supported by a New Business
Exec. The team has ambitious targets to raise £1m a year from new corporate partnerships. This
includes developing strategic corporate relationships, securing cause-related marketing promotions,
and winning charity of the year partnerships.
This post-holder will be experienced across the sales cycle, with a track record of securing
partnerships worth £50,000 plus, from a variety of sectors. The role will involve building
relationships with cold prospects, developing winning proposals, delivering impactful pitches and
securing contracted commitments. It will include responsibility for building and maintaining a
pipeline of prospects with the capacity to yield £50,000 - £200,000 plus p.a., per relationship. It will
also include leading on new business generation projects (For example Tour de Law, a two-day inoffice static cycle event for the legal sector in October; and Buy it with Love, an e-commerce
campaign for retailers in March).
We are looking for a candidate who is: ambitious and determined; passionate about creating mutually
beneficial partnerships from scratch; able to build rapport quickly with prospects at all levels in phone

and in person; good at coming up with tailored innovative ideas through personal
creativity or developing imaginative suggestions from brainstorms; competent at writing
and presenting strong propositions; and confident handling objections and negotiating
partnership deals.
Flexibility:
In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post-holder. Any
other tasks that may be requested will be at the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions
of employment. The post-holder must be prepared to travel throughout the UK and to work varying
hours.
Main Responsibilities
New Business

To take a pro-active, innovative and strategic approach to creating and exploring appropriate
corporate partnership opportunities to generate additional income and awareness for Breast
Cancer Care.

To develop and manage a pipeline of potential prospects covering a range of sectors, working
specifically on partnerships with the individual capacity to yield o £50,000 - £200,000 plus per
annum.

To secure and attend meetings with potential corporate partners, representing Breast Cancer
Care, gathering information, and presenting ideas.

To prepare and present high quality tailored proposals, compelling applications, and visually
creative presentations and pitches to potential corporate supporters.

To lead on the development and delivery of one of our new business income generation
events, such as such as Tour de Law, a two-day in-office static cycle event for the legal sector
in October; or Buy it with Love, an e-commerce campaign for retailers in March.

To negotiate and agree the best possible deal for Breast Cancer Care and prepare
agreements and contracts for new partnerships.

To carry out research into corporate prospects and sectors, with the support of the New
Business Exec and Research Officer

To ensure all information is appropriately recorded on our database, Enterprise.

To ensure that appropriate monitoring, evaluation and reporting of all new business
approaches takes place.

To ensure Breast Cancer Care meets all its agreements and obligations towards corporate
supporters.

To ensure a smooth hand-over process for all new partnerships secured, to the relevant
Account Manager.
Planning and Development

To work with the Corporate Partnerships Manager to contribute to the budget setting and
forecasting processes when required.

To contribute to the strategic planning process for corporate partnerships, in order to plan
effectively for growth and funding opportunities.
Operational
 To ensure that all new business information is captured on the Breast Cancer Care database
for future.

To ensure that all organisations and individuals are thanked accordingly and in a
timely fashion.

To be responsible for the development of the New Business Team’s resources
as and when needed.

To work with the Finance department to ensure all income from new corporate partners is
dealt with in the most cost effective and appropriate manner.

To give consideration to cost efficiency at all times and liaise with appropriate internal
departments and external companies, when necessary, to ensure the best possible outcome is
negotiated for Breast Cancer Care.

To ensure appropriate contracts are negotiated and in place with all corporate partners, and
ensure Breast Cancer Care meets all its agreements and contractual obligations accordingly
Internal Liaison
 To collaborate with internal teams to maximise opportunities, keep relevant stakeholders
updated, understand and communicate requirements, and implement cross department
initiatives

To liaise with our Finance and Resources team to ensure contracts are established, and that
all income from corporate partners is processed correctly.

To ensure the rest of the team, and the Head of Corporate Fundraising, are kept informed
through regular briefings
General

To be an effective member of the team, presenting a positive impression of the team and the
charity.

To prepare and present written reports and information as required.

To attend training sessions, conferences, meetings and staff meetings as required.

To manage and co-ordinate all administration and to be self-servicing in the area of
administrative functions.

To liaise with relevant staff and outside agencies as requested, and work with and liaise
effectively with suppliers to ensure best value on behalf of the organisation.




PERSON SPECIFICATION – New Partnerships Specialist
ESSENTIAL
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
 Relevant experience of fundraising and/or sales & marketing in a commercial or charity
environment.

Experience across the whole sales cycle, with a track record of securing partnerships worth
£50,000 plus, from a variety of sectors.

Experience of delivering to income and expenditure targets.

Strong understanding of the commercial sector and major UK brands

Experience of working with a range of partners and developing excellent working relationships.

An understanding and commitment to the principles of customer care.

Experience of working on a variety of projects and the ability to simultaneously manage a wide
range of tasks.

Educated to degree level or equivalent.
