HOMECOMING 2013
“ROARY LOVES THE 90’S”
To participate in any Homecoming events, your organization must have completed the registration
process with The Office of Campus Involvement. There are two divisions of competition: Greeks and
Student Organizations.
Contest results and Division Champion winners will be announced AFTER the football game on
Saturday, October 5, 2013, as well as posted updates throughout the week on the “ECU Homecoming
2013” Facebook page.
Decisions of The Office of Campus Involvement are FINAL.
THEME SELECTION
At the 2nd general meeting on Monday, September 9th, 2013, a lottery is/was held in order for groups to
sign up for a specific theme concept. Groups are encouraged to incorporate this theme throughout their
homecoming participation.
COURT EVENTS
East Central University provides an opportunity for student club & organization sponsored student
representatives to compete and possibly be selected to the Homecoming Court. This selection is
implemented through an interview and voting process. Court candidates need not be “couples”, as
candidates are selected for their representation of the greater campus community. Please refer to Court
Packet for details.

for the students of the present, but also of the past. Homecoming allows your alumni the
opportunity to remember their time here, talk with old friends, and also meet the new
members of your organizations. Remember to include your alumni in this year's

Additional points can be earned towards the Champion's Trophy by completing
special projects, attending homecoming events & athletic games and by attending
general homecoming meetings.
Additional Points will be awarded as follows:
General Meeting Attendance
50 points per meeting can be earned by each group who have at least one representative and no
more than five attending the meeting. Each attendee must sign in.
Special Projects
25-150 points per project can be earned by any group at the discretion of the Office of Campus
Involvement. Groups signing up for and completing an additional project will accumulate 50
extra points (not the listed value of the project if it is more than 50). Project lottery will occur
at the General Meeting –Monday, September 9.

1. Banner size MUST be a twin bed sheet and must be made of cloth
2. Your banner will hang vertically (Long side up and down).
3. Banner must display your 12" by 12" number in the lower right corner (given after registration)
4. No glitter will be allowed; use of glitter may result in disqualification.
5. One of the colors used on the banner must be orange (5 points).
6. The cheer or slogan written on the banner must use the words "Tiger" OR "ECU or East Central
University" AND have organization identification (5points).
7. Entry forms must be turned in to The Office of Campus Involvement (ADM 150) by 5 pm, Friday,
September 20.
8. Banners must be turned in to The Office of Campus Involvement, DRY, no later than Friday,
September 27 by 5 pm to qualify for judging. You are encouraged to submit your entries earlier.
9. Banners will be judged in the following areas:

1. Car entries are encouraged but will NOT be judged.
2. A first place will be awarded in each division. There will not be an overall winner awarded.
3. The proper parade unit entry form must be turned in to The Office of Campus Involvement (ADM
150), on Friday, September 20th, by 5 pm.
4. Professional help of any kind in the planning or construction of the float or marching unit will
result in automatic disqualification.
5. No float may be higher than 12 feet.
6. Each float must be able to move forward at a rate of 5 mph.
7. Judging of Floats will be done in these areas:
a. Adhering to Homecoming Theme ................................................................... 30 pts.
b. Tiger Spirit ....................................................................................................... 30 pts.
c. Craftsmanship/Originality................................................................................ 20 pts.

8. The parade will start at 12:00 mm. All groups entering the competition must check-in at
Carlson/Center of the Arts Lot (lot 2) at their assigned time. Late check-ins will result in a 15
point penalty. Remember!! Check-ins and line up for the parade will take place at the assigned
times on Saturday, October 5th. All entries should be lined up and ready to go at their assigned
time.
9. Absolutely No Day Of Parade Entries!!!
10. All units being judged in the parade must slow down but not stop while passing the judges' and
maintain a 50 yard distance from the unit in front of them.
11. Candy, gum, etc., may NOT be thrown from any floats or cars. Candy may be HANDED out
from walking parade participants ONLY.

Float Details

Organizations are required to submit float plans/ designs/ sketches in the Office of Campus Involvement,
ADM 150 by 5:00pm on Friday, September 20.
Construction:
It is the understanding of the organization that with this entry we assume complete responsibility for all materials, tools,
equipment, and other items of value in the building in which our entry is being constructed, as well as the return of these
items, if borrowed. We also assume the responsibility of the orderly conduct of all personnel on the construction
locations. Furthermore, it is fully understood that all activities concerning the parade are considered to be University
functions and ALCOHOL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Parade:
It is fully understood that East Central University is not responsible for any damages to personal property (Cars, Trucks,
Trailers, etc.). We assume responsibility for any personal injury that may occur. Reminder: Sorry, no horses.
