Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF)

GDHIF was introduced by Government in June 2014

• New incentive scheme to improve the energy efficiency of your home linked to the Green Deal.

• Open to all householders, tenants and landlords in England and Wales

• Provides a choice of 2 core incentive offers , and where you qualify, 2 add-on bonus rewards across a range of energy saving home improvements.

How does the offer work?

Choose offers 1 and/or 2 , then add on offers 3 and/or 4 if applicable

Core offer 1: • Up to £1,000 grant for installing 2 eligible energy

Two energy saving measures saving measures from a list of 12 (see table)

Core offer 2:

Solid Wall Insulation

Add-On 3:

Home Buyer Bonus

Add-On 4:

Green Deal Assessment Report refund

• Up to £6,000 grant for solid wall insulation.

• The applicant must contribute at least 25% of the total cost

• Must insulate at least 50% of the external walls of the property

• An extra £500 bonus for those that have bought a house in the last 12 months

• Up to £100 towards the cost of a Green Deal

Assessment Report (GDAR) that is tailored to your home

Who can apply (applicants)?

• Householders

• Tenants*

• Landlords*

*Scheme is open to both private and social tenants and landlords.

The person who pays the majority of the costs can apply (the applicant).

Notes:

• Applicants must have a recent (within 2 years) Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or GDAR which recommends the proposed improvements.

• Applicants cannot already have installed the measures and they must be eligible

• GDHIF cannot be used in conjunction with other schemes such as Local Authority initiatives e.g.

Cosy Devon, Energy Company Obligation (ECO) or Green Deal Cashback.

• The installer is obliged to tell you of any other offers or grants

Who can do the work?

The work can be done by a Green Deal Approved Provider and/or

Installer registered with the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund.

Eligible energy saving measures for Core Offer 1

Any two of the following improvement measures:

Fan-assisted storage heaters

Energy efficient replacement external doors

How to decide which measures you need and how to apply for GDHIF

Do a free Home Energy Check

Discuss with Horrabridge Energy Savers

(HES) - optional

Arrange for an EPC or GDAR report to be done (unless you already have one less than

2 years old)

Shop around for a GDHIF registered Green

Deal Installer or Provider and ask for a quote(s) for each of the measures

Get a better idea of the measures needed for your home and potential savings. HES can help if needed.

Apply for your GDHIF Voucher before the work commences and agree to the Terms and Conditions

Apply online at www.gov.uk/greendeal

Ask HES if you need help with this.

Have the work carried out within 6 months of the voucher date

The work must be completed within 6 months from the date the voucher was issued

Send the voucher to the GDHIF

Administrator to get it redeemed (by post or email with supporting documentation)

Receive payment within 10 working days

The voucher must be signed by the Green Deal

Installer or Provider.

The following supporting documentation must be attached :

Invoice(s) for the work carried out AND PAS2030 Claim(s) of

Conformity (the GD Provider or Installer will give you this) AND A copy of the GDAR invoice (if you are claiming for a GDAR refund).
