MSc HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY FUNDED BURSARY 2015/16 NHS FORTH VALLEY The School of Natural Sciences, Psychology is pleased to be able to offer a bursary for students starting the MSc in Health Psychology in September 2015. Student Eligibility In order to be considered you must have already been offered and accepted a full time place on our MSc in Health Psychology programme. If you hold a conditional offer, you are still eligible to apply. Applicants will be ranked according to academic merit, previous experience and their personal statement by a Departmental Committee. Shortlisted applicants may be asked participate in a telephone interview during the week commencing Monday 10 August. Students wishing to be considered should complete and return the attached bursary application form by Friday 7 August. Late applications will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Description and Value of Bursary The bursary is funded by NHS Forth Valley. The successful applicant will be required to work one full day per week for the duration of the programme as a Health Psychology Assistant. The student will be based at Carseview House in Stirling and a current driving licence would be an advantage. The bursary will pay MSc course fees (£6,000). The successful applicant will be expected to: Work with the team to assess the current national and international research on why people use ecigarettes Work with the team to assess the current national and international research on the reasons that people move to e-cigarettes from cigarettes - is it as a cessation approach or a harm reduction approach Undertake research/focus groups with local e-cigarette users to ascertain their reasons for using ecigarettes and the marketing messages that the Stop Smoking service should use to encourage ecigarette smokers to use our services There may also be an opportunity to undertake a student research project. Submission Deadline Bursary applications must be submitted by Friday 7 August. Normally only students whose MSc Health Psychology application has been fully processed and have been offered admission on a conditional or unconditional basis by Friday 7 August will be considered for a bursary.
