The molecular division of the Haematopathology laboratory is located at ACTREC and caters to molecular diagnostics of patients with blood cancer. This is a high volume molecular diagnostics laboratory. Work Detail: 1. Handling of more than three thousand leukemic samples for diverse molecular assays. 2. Isolation of nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) from blood, stained slides, CSF, by TRIZOL, QIAgen kit method and by using QIA cube machine. Nucleic acid extraction from agarose gel. 3. Detection for common transcripts like, BCR-ABL 190kd in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), 190KDa and 210 KDa by nested as well as by RQ-PCR in Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), PMLRARA as well as other transcripts in APML patients, kinase domain mutations for patients with CML, FLT3 (TKD as well as ITD), NPM1 and CEBPA mutations for AML patients, C-kit mutations for AML patients, JAK -2 mutation in CMPD by ASO-PCR, BRAF V600E mutation in hairy cell leukemia (HCL), MYD88 L265P mutation in lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL) patients, immunoglobulin heavy variable genes (IGVH) mutation in Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), KRAS, NRAS. 4. Sample preparation for DNA fragment analysis (capillary electrophoresis) and Sanger sequencing&analysis. Other Experiences: 1. Determination of Quality of Pasteurized milk by chemical testing taking raw milk as comparison for 4 weeks by storing in refrigerator. Microbial plating of Milk by spread plate method was done on various medias for 4 weeks to observe normal and contamination of micro-organisms. Antimicrobial activity on milk was performed by gel diffusion method using honey at various concentrations.
