Road Map

Write a three-year timeline for the organization’s strategic direction. Goals include financial security and planned growth
and educated/active board, and the creation of a strategic plan at the end of three years.
 Feb. 5, focus team reviews members detailed work on the road map
 February board meeting, focus team presents to board for review, comment and approval
 March, other focus teams form to work on road map specifics
Recruitment Whole board, Holly and Jason
 January board meeting, elect candidates Carolyn Riggs and Roxanna Alvarez
 January board meeting, go over prospect list with fellow board members to identify “low hanging” fruit
 Focus on finding board members with skills sets we are seeking right now, including business management
skills, fundraising / development, connections to local governments and schools. January board meeting
brainstorm on possible prospects with these connections.

 Feb – review / evaluate past events; map out calendar for 2015 Events.

 January, work with fundraising groups to identify business partners for sponsorships (board)

 January, identify best prospects for 2015 and 2016. Map out a “grant a month” plan for each writer

 January, coordinate with events focus team to plan a roll out date for Uncommon Experiences

 Secure first round of Uncommon Events

 Get WSCU Intern and additional team members
 Research and pitch 3 possible business venture ideas to board
 Research possible “business angels,” donors that are interested in funding a business venture
 Present a business plan for winning idea
Leader? … — Passive Income
(ideas like amazon smile, real estate / rental add ons, or other small things we could put into place that would allow
funds to trickle in steadily without us doing anything)
 Come up with a “passive income plan” for 2015, featuring at least three ways to passively earn income for
Mountain Roots.
 Execute those ideas and keep us posted monthly about the income earned.
SECONDARY
We will begin to tackle these when we’ve made substantial progress on the Primary group.
PR & Marketing (1-2 people)
 Write an annual marketing plan
 Write a marketing plan for special events, campaigns
 Recruit social media person
 Form a budget
Program Evaluation (1 person)
 Create a matrix that can be used by staff to evaluate programs. This matrix sheet can then be read by board to
help them make educated decisions about programs and program funding.
